JOSEPH FRANCISCUS KALFICS 1943 — 2022

JOSEPH FRANCISCUS KALFICS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Franciscus Kalfics at age 78.
He was born on October 11, 1943,
in Heerlen, Holland. He came to Canada in 1956. He left this world peaceful with his family at his side on September 4, 2022. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce. Joseph leaves behind his daughters Sherie (Cameron) Loring and Nickie (Robert) LaSaga, both will miss him dearly. He was deceased by both his parents, Gerda and Joseph Kalfics and his youngest brother Frankie. His 2 remaining sisters Anna Fulop and Kathy (John) Aartsen will mourn with us. He was loved by all his grandchildren Jordan (Shannon), Jared (Shaylene), Brendan, Mirranda (Ricky), Caila, Cherrise, Bryson (Theresa), Baylie (Colin), Kaycie (Steven) and Julian.

Merritt has been his home since 1967. Joe loved his community and his church. He was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus at the Sacred Heart Parish. He made lifelong friends that will remember his sense of humor, wisdom, and his incredible stories.

Joseph’s heart was broken after losing his lifelong love last year. Their one wish was to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary which will be April 7, 2023. Joe’s health was declining, and his body was tired, thankfully Our Heavenly Father took his home to rest and be with his wife to have their “Last Waltz” together.

So many hearts are feeling sadness because he was here and was loved.

Messages of condolences can be expressed to the family online at Kamloops Funeral Home.

Catholic Service will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish, Merritt BC on October 8,2022 at 11:00am. Reception and Interment to follow.

My deepest condolences to Joe family. I was one of Joe’s students at Coldwater school. I remember I failed grade 8 science and Joe was there to help me through it. I couldn’t understand it at all but he never gave up on me and tried to explain it in every way he could think of. Thank you Joe for not giving up on me. May you Rest In Peace note and be with your beloved. Until we meet again….

Joe always wanted the best for the students he taught and took pride in his teaching students and there are many.
Joe and I had some good discussions and planning sessions, and to work with we had.

My condolences sent to Joe’s family. I had the honour of working with Joe at the Coldwater School. Joe was a great teacher. Teaching the students dancing lessons, stamp collecting, cooking breakfast for the students. I was always scared to go to Joe‘a on Halloween never knew where he would be hiding. Enjoyed going to Game On for wings. Always nice to visit with Joe & Joyce. I wished we had the chance to meet up with Joe for wings. Joe you are going to missed Dearly.

What a shock to hear Joe had died. I first met Joe when he was Recording Secretary For United Steelworkers Union at Craigmont. Lots of fond memories of Christmas parties and dancing. He loved to polka(always with his square hat(handkerchief)on. Worked with Joe for many years-first on a tutoring program and then at Coldwater School.
Will miss his pranks and jokes.
    Rest in Peace old friend!

He was a great teacher and loved his students. The more they learnt the prouder he was. Yes Dad loved Halloween, the scarier the better. He spoke highly of your Game On wing nights.

Linda, he thought so highly of you. The stories he told. We will honour his ‘party hat’ whenever the opportunity arises.
