Christine passed away unexpectedly in her sleep in the early morning hours of Monday, April 4, 2016.She is predeceased by her husband Melvin, son Ashley, Mum Nelly, sister Enid, in-laws Erika and Glenn, and great-grandson Axel. She is survived by her partner of 16 years, Dale Monks, his four children, her children Christopher (Beth) and Jennifer (Joe), 15 grandchildren, one great grandchild, five sisters, extended family and dear friends.
Christine sailed to Canada from England in 1957 where she met and married Melvin. They moved to Kamloops in 1977, where she co-owned/ran Fat Mel’s Pandas Pizza and Fat Mel’s Does Italian. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting, was passionate about cooking and loved traveling, with frequent trips to the Hawaiian Islands, and in their later years, “trucking” across North America with Dale.
We fondly remember Christine for her spunk and no-nonsense attitude. We miss her deeply. A private family service has already taken place. Thank you for considering a donation in Christine’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
One Tribute
I was so saddened to read of Christine’s passing and would like to extend my deepest sympathy to her family. I met Christine and Mel during the 80’s and became friends while eating in their wonderful restaurant and at many antique auctions. Christine gave true meaning to “tiny but tough.” The last time I saw her she was just bubbling with excitement about trucking along the highways with Dale. What a wonderful last memory to have of her. May your memories comfort you during this sad time
