Lavana is predeceased by her parents Gilbert Thesis Murphy and Ann Elizabeth Murphy (nee Stolzy), and three siblings. She is survived by special friend Craig Dauncey, 9 siblings, 4 step children, numerous nieces and nephews, and family members.
Lavana was born in Three Hills Alberta February 26 1931. In 1968 she moved from Alberta to Kamloops where she worked at Weyerhaeuser and then the Village of Chase retiring in 1998. Lavana’s love of music goes back to playing in a 1970’s dance band, The Flames for many years. She was a self taught musician who loved to sing and play bass guitar. Upon retirement she volunteered at Ponderosa Day Care Services, and spent time with Craig travelling BC attending festivals and having fun until she was no longer able to travel.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Pine Grove Care Facility, who kept her comfortable during her stay.
A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 30 at 11:00 am, Kamloops Funeral Home 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops BC.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
One Tribute
From the moment we met Lavana, she has held a very special place in our hearts. We so much appreciated her humour, her realistic attitude, her love of family and Craig and her positive outlook on life. We will never again be so lucky as to have another tenant and friend like her! We will miss her!
Sincerely,
Gerald and Marilyn Blouin
