It is with great sadness that the family of Randy Cook announces his sudden passing, at his home in Kamloops, British Columbia. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Eileen Cook; brother, Alan (April); sister Jennifer (Brian) and nephew Adam. Randy was predeceased by his father, Harold Cook.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Randy came to Kamloops with his family in 1966. He graduated from NorKam Secondary in 1978 and kept in touch with many classmates.
An early love of cars and motorcycles, combined with an appreciation of times gone by, led to a life-long involvement with classic cars and hot rods. Randy was a long-time member of The National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada, The Vintage Car Club of Canada (Kamloops Chapter), the Kamloops Street Rod Association and participated in many club activities, shows, rallies and swap-meets. Some of his most enjoyable hours were spent in the garage, or with the many friends and acquaintances he met through these groups.
He was also an avid collector of smaller items, and enjoyed working in his yard and vegetable garden.
Many thanks to Randy’s friends and neighbours who looked out for him and lent a hand when needed.

One of the nicest guys I knew in high school and in our later years. Sad you are gone, you will always be remembered.
Randy was a childhood friend of my ex husband James. He was one of the first people I met when I moved to Kamloops and was always a true friend to us even though we hadn’t seen much of him in the last few years. Have so many memories of things we did but one of my favorites was when my son Ian was little, Randy would dress up as Santa on Christmas Eve and come to the house delighting Ian to no end. My deepest condolences to his family and will always have a special place in my heart for Randy.

I can’t believe your gone. I will always remember you as as a great friend and member of the fraternal order of car crazy’s from the 60’s. We shared main laughs over coffee, love of 60’s and 70’s music and of course anything with wheels and a engine.
You will always be missed by Mj, Alex, Amy and I
I’m not a religious person, but in the chance that I’m wrong, I hope we meet again. Your friend Darrell

My deepest condolences and sympathies to you all at this difficult time. I was very shocked to see Randy’s obituary in the paper. I didn’t know him that well, but knew him through the vintage car hobby, and we often saw each other at Fortune A&W. My prayers are with you, he will be missed, a special and nice man.
I knew Randy from high school. He was always pleasant and easy to get along with. I remember having fun playing poker with him one time. He had beginners luck and made out quite well, much to the annoyance of the rest of us.
My condolences to The Cook family.

Still hard to look across the street knowing your gone. Randy was one of the nicest sincerest people ive ever met. The first thing he always asked was about how my family was. He was like a dad, a big bro and an uncle and our lives were enriched by having you around. We will never forget you. Rip my friend
Life just isn’t fair sometimes.
I send my condolences to the entire Cook family.
Randy was truly a smart, intelligent and interesting guy.
Eileen, what does one say? Nothing will take away the pain you feel. I wish I could.
I read this poem many years ago and I wanted to share it with you.
A Child Of Mine
I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for Me
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief.
You’ll have his lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take him home again
I fancied that I heard them say,
‘Dear Lord, Thy will be done!’
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him,
Much sooner than we’ve planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

I’m thinking of you all. Kim Norbury
Al please accept our deepest condolences.
We still look over at your house Randy and wait for you to have your sandwhich and Pepsi on your front step, or come out to “shoot the breeze” when we’re in the yard. Every little house project we were up to..you were over with a helping hand or going in your garage for a tool. Never mattered what we were doing you always had the right tool.
The long talks on politics would always get you going and the endless discussions on your hotwheels that you loved so much.
Our kids couldn’t wait to get up in the morning and yell hello to you our the front door before you went for coffee every morning, or any opportunity to come over to get your candy stash. You taught my family love, respect and compassion. You welcomed us in the neighbourhood and instantly became our family. We will miss having you over, miss the talks, and miss trying to out do you on who’s yard looks better. I will miss your advice and especially miss your love you had for my kids. You will forever be in our memory and our hearts.. until we meet again my friend … Rest In Peace.
Just found out about Randy. I remember enjoying his company when he worked up at the Ministry of Environment building on Dalhousie in Kamloops. I always saw him at the hot rod evenings and got to sit in his old Belvedere I think it was. He certainly collected lots of those small toy cars. The last time I saw him, he was working at the Land office downtown Kamloops. My condolences to the family.
Planned to look Randy up in a couple of weeks as we come through Kamloops for a visit and was saddened to learn he passed away last September. Had many enjoyable conversations with Randy about cars – he was a true enthusiast. My condolences to Randy’s family on your loss.
