Pietro Silvio Pozza of Kamloops, BC, passed away on Sept 24, 2023, at 92 years of age.

Pietro is survived by his two daughters, Christina (Garry) van Soest of Vernon, BC, and Elena (Jason) Friesen of Kamloops, BC. Along with five grandchildren – Francesca, Katrina, Gerrit, Justin, and Thomas. Pietro is predeceased by his wife Maddalena and his sister Anna. His brother, Paolino, in Italy survives him.

Pietro was born in the small town of Valdagno, Italy. He moved to Canada in 1957, after the war. Italy held few opportunities for a photographer (Pietro’s trade), however, in Canada, Pietro found work on the railway, the mines, and finally in the lumber industry, where he became a millwright. Pietro settled in Williams Lake and married his teenage sweetheart, Maddalena, in 1963. Pietro’s best virtues were his commitment to his family, his honesty, his work ethic, and his “interesting” sense of humor. He was dedicated wholeheartedly to those he loved. He set the groundwork for a grounded, loving, and stable upbringing.

To all the wonderful staff and residents at Chartwell, who helped dad feel comfortable and loved in his last few years. You exceeded our expectations. To the staff at Royal Inland Hospital emergency department and 5 north, for the countless times we entered your doors, your professionalism was outstanding.

A service is planned in 2024 when the grandchildren are back from university, and the family can celebrate
