Sarwan Dhillon, a beloved father, grandfather, and respected member of the Sikh community in Kamloops BC, peacefully departed this world on March 19, 2024, at the age of 88. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on September 24, 1935, in Pandori Ladha Singh, India, Sarwan was the son of hardworking parents who instilled in him the values of resilience and determination. In pursuit of better opportunities, he immigrated to Canada in his early twenties in 1957, carrying with him dreams of a brighter future.
Upon arriving in Canada, Sarwan found employment at a local sawmill, where he dedicated himself to his work in the hopes of a better future for his family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Harbans, and a loving father to his children, Jesse & Balbir.
In addition to his dedication to his family, Sarwan was deeply involved in the Sikh Temple in Kamloops BC. He volunteered considerably, dedicating countless hours to cleaning and maintaining the temple grounds. He found joy in walking to the temple and exercising regularly, embracing the tranquility of these activities. His boundless generosity and unwavering willingness to assist those in need left an undeniable mark on all who knew him.
Sarwan’s life was a testament to the power of hard work, resilience, and compassion. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire future generations.
Sarwan is survived by his children, Jesse (Narinder) & Balbir (Jasminder); his grandchildren (Robby, Jenna, Sukhi, Jason, Aj); and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service in memory of Sarwan Dhillon will be held at Kamloops Funeral Home on Sunday, March 24th at 1:30pm. Rest in peace.
