Garry Wong went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife Shelbi and their two children Gabriel and Solomon. Also left to mourn are 3 brothers and 3 sisters of Hong Kong. Garry also leaves numerous extended family in Canada.
Garry was born October 16, 1965 in Hong Kong, where he spent much of his early life. Garry did everything. He both modelled and taught modelling. He sold multi- million dollar real estate, worked at several production agencies, tried his hand at professional gambling among many other things before coming to Canada. Garry also learned to cook at a young age and was passionate about it.
Garry came to Canada in 1997. There he met his wife and they married in 2000. Garry was determined to succeed at everything he did and rarely turned down an opportunity to try something new. Hard work was ingrained in Garry and whatever he did; it was done fast and furiously. Garry’s proudest moments were when his 2 sons were born. He loved to teach them Kung Fu and about cooking. His biggest sadness was of not being able to watch them grow into men. Garry was a character with a mischievous glint in his eyes. When he walked in the room, the entertainment started.
Garry loved travelling and camping with his family. He continued to do these things until he physically wasn’t able. He passed away peacefully with his wife, his sisters Carol and Karen, and niece Pinki by his side. Psalm 73.26 my flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Memorial Service will take place at 1pm on Friday, July 25. 2014 at Calvary Community Church with Pastor Darren Jones officiating.
Special Thanks to April at the Kamloops Cancer Agency, Dr. Bachand in Kelowna, and the staff and volunteers at the Kamloops Hospice.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Kamloops Hospice in Garry’s name.
