September 12, 1947 – April 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doug on April 25th, in his 77th year.
Doug was born in Vancouver and raised in Cloverdale until the age of 12, when his family moved to 100 Mile House. He graduated high school there, where he met Sharon. They were married on May 18th, 1968.
Doug began his career with the liquor store in 100 Mile House in 1969. In 1974, he moved to Hazelton to take on the role of Manager, and returned to Kamloops in 1977. After 35 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2003 as Area Manager.
Doug was deeply involved with the Heffley Creek Gun Club as a Cowboy Action Shooter for over 20 years—a sport he truly loved. In 2005, he proudly won the Regional Canadian Championship.
Doug and Sharon enjoyed many travels over the years, up until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Sadly, when they were finally able to travel again, Doug became ill.
Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon; daughter Daina (Dan); granddaughters Jordan, Haley (Ethan), and Madellyn; great-granddaughter Mavie and great-grandson Dashiel; daughter Shannon; granddaughter Caitlyn; and grandson Zachary.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Susan Vlahos for her excellent care of Doug, and to the compassionate staff on the 3rd floor of Sun Rivers Age Care Home for the wonderful care he received during his short stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) Foundation.
As per Doug’s wishes, there will be no service.
