JUNE CAROL JAHN 1943 — 2025

JUNE CAROL JAHN

It is with great love, gratitude, and sadness that we announce that June Carol Jahn (née Bandura) passed away, peacefully, with her son Andy by her side on April 17th, 2025, at the age of 81.

She is survived by her loving husband Carl Jahn, her sons Andy Miller (Shivonne), and Stewart Miller, along with her grandchildren Emily, Grace, and Bennett Miller. She also leaves behind blended family members including Carl Jahn Jr. (Cori), their children Jessica, Jacob & Jeremy, Chris Jahn, Derek Jahn and Britta Bieberstein (Jamie) along with their children, Jared and Ryan.

June was a deeply loving person, known for her generosity and warmth towards everyone she encountered. She was immensely grateful for her family and friends, and she truly loved being in their company. She will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life, infectious laughter, and the love she shared with those around her. June was the happiest person, always seeing the positive in life and smiling and laughing. She was someone that you wanted to be around and spend time with because you always felt better being in her presence.

June was born in Halifax, NS before moving to New Westminster, BC where she spent her childhood. As a teenager, she would spend her summers on the farm of her extended family in Mundare, AB before graduating high school in 1961. In the years following, she travelled the world spending time in Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan before returning to Canada. She moved to Kelowna, BC in 1971 and started her family a few years later. June created several amazing friendships in Kelowna that have lasted her entire life.

Moving to Kamloops in 1983 was the beginning of a new chapter for June. She was always a person of faith, and when she arrived in Kamloops, she joined the church parish at St. George’s Church, and later the Kamloops United Church, joining the choir with both churches. She also joined the Kamloops Choristers, where she spent almost 30 years singing and travelling the world to perform with this talented group. June’s presence in the choir will be deeply missed, her soprano voice was known for confidently carrying the high G, a note few could reach with such clarity and grace.

June married Carl in 1996, the beginning of the next 30 wonderful years for June and Carl. Taking part in a host of various outdoor activities, they spent many years travelling with Cindy & Ed, Caroline & Mike and many other friends in their RV throughout British Columbia. They visited family in Europe, and spent some cold Canadian winters in the southern US. When their ‘big travel’ days were behind them, June and Carl spent their summer season at Bridge Lake, and her presence will be sorely missed after almost 25 years of summering at Cottonwood Bay Resort.

We have cried many tears in her passing, just as we cried many tears of laughter with her over the years. June was always there, for everyone, in every way. We are all so fortunate to have had her in our lives. You will be forever missed by many. Thank you for being the best Mom I could have ever asked for, we love you.

A special thank you to the nursing staff at RIH on the 8th floor of the Gaglardi Tower, as well as the nurses and staff and the Margorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 29th, 2025 @ 2:00pm in the Mountain Room in the Campus Activity Centre at Thompson Rivers University.
