JENNIFER WECKWORTH 1952 — 2025

JENNIFER WECKWORTH

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Weckworth on May 5, 2025, after a very short battle with cancer; she was treated with grace and dignity by the staff and doctors of the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC.

Jennifer was born to Thomas and Doris Young in Oshawa, Ontario in 1952. Pursuing education later in life, in 1996 she achieved a Master’s Degree in Human Geography from Simon Fraser University. Nurturing a passion for gardening almost all of her life, Jennifer became a credited Master Gardener and transformed every space she lived with flowers and grasses but her true calling was helping people recover from alcohol addiction, which she devoted as much time as she could to, supporting those in need with a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh; she had recently celebrated 31 years of sobriety.

Jennifer is survived by her ever loving husband of 24 years, Jim, her big sister Jan and her little sister Joanne, her daughter Erin, and her 5 grandchildren Mary, Noah, Luke, Bella, and Emma. She was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Katherine, in 2008.

The family would love to see donations to a local women’s shelter but more than anything, Jennifer would have liked everyone to take more time to stop and smell the flowers.
