IRIS ELAINE IRENE (NÉE CHOBOTER) STRICKLAND 1953 — 2026

IRIS ELAINE IRENE (NÉE CHOBOTER) STRICKLAND

February 24th, 1953 – February 11th, 2026

2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT

8. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.

It is with great sadness that the family of Iris Elaine Irene Strickland announce her passing into the arms of the Lord on February 11th, 2026 at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with her husband Tony of 37 years by her side.
A big thank-you to the Doctors, Nurses, Pastor and all those who cared for Iris during her last few days of life here on Earth. Your love, kindness, support and caring will always be remembered.

Iris leaves behind her husband Tony Strickland, son Shayne Lamber, his wifeAnne-Marie and Grandson Rychel, daughter Tanya Lamarche her husband Dave and Grandson Nathaniel her brothers Alexander Choboter, Glen Choboter, William Choboter, George Choboter and sisters Victoria Durrant and Marie Tang and their spouses and children.

Iris was predeceased by her parents George and Sophie Choboter, brothers Ernie, David, Nicholas, Edward, Peter, and sisters Shirley and Elsie and many, many more loved ones.

Iris was born and grew up on a farm near Buchanan Saskatchewan. She later moved to Regina, Calgary, Abbotsford, High Level, Prince George and made her final move to Kamloops with her husband Tony and daughter Tanya, son-in law Dave and Grandson Nathanial in 2015.

Iris was very loving and compassionate towards many things and people. Especially towards her Lord, Saviour and King Jesus Christ. She also showed much love towards her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, neighbors and all babies and children she knew or met wherever she went.

Iris loved gardening and harvesting her fruits and vegetables with her husband Tony. She also enjoyed home renovation projects, doing crafts and arts, sewing, doing puzzles, and in the last few years she found peace and serenity in coloring and reading her Bible with Tony.

Iris believed that by living a spiritual life helps in overcoming life’s many challenges and difficulties. She worked hard at putting into practice what she learned from Alanon and the Bible. Some of her favorite sayings were: Live and Let Live, One Day at a Time, Let Go and Let God and  The Serenity Prayer: GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN, AND THE WISDON TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

Iris and Tony spent 37 beautiful years together and loved and respected each other greatly. Together they celebrated Tony’s birthday a week before Iris passed, and she wrote a beautiful message on his birthday card to him that read:
“THANKS FOR ALL, I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY, JOYOUS, AND FREE!”
And today Iris is Happy, Joyous, and Free, living in Heaven with Jesus, the Angels and all her loved ones who had passed before her. And she will be looking forward to us all joining her one day! Until then, her spirit and love will be very close to each one of those who she loves here on Earth.
God Bless You All!

Gravesite Prayers and Burial Service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops, BC at 1pm Friday, February 20th, 2026.
