Joan Maureen Fawcett

With deep sorrow, we announce on November 27, 2017, Joan Maureen (McLeod) Fawcett passed away peacefully at home with her boys at her side.  Joan was a loving mother, sister, daughter, auntie and friend to so many who adored and loved her.

Joan was predeceased by her parents Russell and Moreen McLeod.  She is survived by her sons Jason (Pamela) and Kelly (Tracee), sisters Marilyn McLeod and Margaret Stephenson (Art), brother Barry McLeod (Linda), grandchildren Celia, Sam, Keira, Kysen and Alexis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was born on May 12, 1945 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan and grew up in Prince George.  She moved to Kamloops in 1970.  Joan was an entrepreneur with many successful business ventures.  In 1974 she was a co-founder of McCleaners Drycleaning & Laundromats and a company that owned and managed apartment buildings.  In 1982 she became the owner and operator of the A&W restaurant located in the Aberdeen Mall food court until 1996 where she won many awards for quality service and tasty burgers.  Her last business was owning the Canada Post retail outlet in North Hills Mall until her retirement in 2009.  In all her businesses Joan always took care of her customers and employees first by putting all of them above herself and treating them as family.  Retirement allowed her time to follow two of her passions, spending time with her grandchildren and playing Bridge as often as she could. Hedao “Al” Tomiye

 It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Hedao (Al) Tomiye on November 25, 2017 at 87 years of age. 

Al was predeceased by his loving wife, Mieko on July 29, 2015, brothers, Tom Tomiye, Charlie Harada, Jimmy Harada, sisters, Aya Tanemura and Tamiyo Kuroda. He is survived by his daughters Lana Tomiye and Caroline (Keven) Watt, granddaughter Sasha Watt, grandson Kai Watt, sisters Michi Dakus and Setsu Kikuchi, nephew Reggie (Donna) Tomiye, niece Diane Katz, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

DOUGLAS BUSAT

It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Busat announces his passing suddenly on November 22, 2017 at the age of 74 of cancer. He leaves behind his wife Carol, daughters Judy, Connie and Shelley, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Haakon, and Elizabeth Busat, brothers, Maurice and Peter.

DANIEL WILLIAM KILGOUR 1949 — 2017

DANIEL WILLIAM KILGOUR

Daniel William Kilgour of Savona, BC, passed away on November 12, 2017 at 68 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Lorna N (Jules) Kilgour. Children, Eric W. Kilgour and Nancy M. Kilgour of Kamloops, B.C., grandchildren, Ashley Rose Kilgour,  Angela May Kilgour, brother, Robert D Kilgour of California, USA., mother, Vi Marlowe and many other relatives. Daniel is predeceased by his father, Donald R. Kilgour in 1962.

Dan worked for the city of Kamloops for 35 years. He was also a boiler maker, welder , and rancher for Deadmans Creek. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends. His greatest love was fishing with his son, Eric, archery with Lorna and Angela and he had fun shooting with Ashley, and had many conversations with Nancy.

Special Thanks to all that came to remember Dan, also members of Westsyde Gospel Hall, West View Chapel, Victoria B.C., and Kamloops Gospel Chapel.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Skeetchestn Reserve.

Lorraine Florence (Nolan) Lebourdais

Lorraine Florence LeBourdais of Kamloops, BC passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the age of 77.

 

She is survived by her children; Della (Merle) Fellhauer of Kamloops, Daphne (Mark) LeBourdais-Hilleren of Watford City, ND, Gary (Jen) LeBourdais of Kamloops, Sandra LeBourdais of Kamloops, Jerry (Traci) LeBourdais of Kamloops, Ed (Deana) LeBourdais of Kamloops, Barry (JessieAnn) LeBourdais, and Mel (Teresa) Harrison (adopted son) of Osoyoos, grandchildren; Jolene, Tye (Delaney), Joseph (Jolene) Stephanie (Jay), Lori (Glen), Tanner (Jordi), Darcy (Jodi), Taylor, Adam, Hannah, Derian, Nicole, Marty, Logan, Ben, Joshua, Braden, Marci, Denny, Shay, Christine, and Mathew, great grandchildren; Kayla, Tiegan, Kiara, Zoey, Cyrus, Phoenix, Dainah, Liam, Wyatt, Morgan, Levi, Emma, Kaelyn, Quinn, Claire, Cameron, Isabella, Olivia, Kash, and Addysin,Darwin, Orion,Ella Dawne.

Lorraine is also survived by her siblings, Marelene Newman of Alberta, Wayne Apelle of Edmonton, AB, nieces Marlene and Faye Belanger, and nephew Larry Belanger. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, daughter Deborah, son Larry, great grandson Dominic Fellhauer, mother Mary (Belanger) Nolan, father James Nolan, brother Kenneth Nolan, Uncles Wilfred and Morris Belanger, father in-law Eddy LeBourdais, and mother in-law Alice LeBourdais.

 

Lorraine was born in Innisfail, AB and raised in Innisfail, Ponoka and Hobbema, AB and Kamloops, BC. Lorraine comes from a long lineage of Cree ancestry- her grandparents Lucy and Charles, were full-blood Cree from Saskatchewan. Lorraine and Joseph were married in 1955 and started their family. They  moved to Clinton, BC  at 8 Mile Ranch, then relocated to Whispering Pines in Kamloops. Lorraine was wife, foster mother, and ranch hand alongside her beloved Joseph, rodeo timer and secretary,Social Development Worker/Education Coordinator for Whispering Pine/Clinton Indian Band for many years, and was significant in the BC Natives Women’s Society and Aboriginal Education Council. She retired in May 2005. Lorraine also served as Band Administrator and Councillor for the Whispering Pine/Clinton Indian Band for a number of years. Lorraine was well known for her singing while Joseph played his guitar, and she also sang with a well-known Kamloops Band, the Thompson Valley Boys. Joe and Lorraine loved to dance.

 

Viewing/visitation will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive.
