June 20, 1922 – March 14, 2015

Dr Olga Lazarchuk of Kamloops, B.C passed away, surrounded by her devoted family on March 14, 2015 at 92 years of age. She is survived by her loving daughter, Marta (Dan) Wildemann of Kamloops and son Oleh Lazarchuk of Williams Lake. Also, left with treasured memories are relatives Mary and Don Bodnar and family of Edmonton, AB, Zonia and Tania Hadym of Kamloops B.C. and special feline friend ‘Burko’ (Timber). Predeceased by her parents Anna and Theophil Hadymowsky of Ukraine, beloved husband Dr Myron Lazarchuk, brother Stanley and wife Olha Hadym and niece Anna Szumylo.

Born June 20, 1922 in Lviv, Ukraine. She married Myron in 1944 and together they studied medicine in Vienna, Austria. After graduating from medicine in 1947 they came by boat to Canada, leaving Genoa, Italy and landing in Halifax, NS. They travelled by train to Edmonton, AB where they worked for a short while before transferring to Prince Rupert. She then interned at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, did a pediatric residency at Children’s hospital then moved back to Prince Rupert and Hazelton. Olga and Myron settled in Kamloops in 1955 where she practiced general medicine until her retirement in 1994. January 5^th, 1930 – March 12^th, 2015

Mitsuko “Mits” Kuroyama (Kato), passed away peacefully on March 12^th, 2015 with her family by her side.

Mits was born January 5^th, 1930, in Royston/Cumberland, British Columbia where she lived with her family until they were relocated to an internment camp at Tashme during World War II. After the war her family moved to North Kamloops where she met Arnie and they were married 1951. Mits was a long time employee of Safety Mart Foods until her retirement. Throughout the years she enjoyed softball, bowling, curling and golfing. She particularly loved golfing with her sisters and friends at the Kamloops Golf and Country Club. She continued to golf until she was 80. Although she enjoyed her sports her first love was her large extended family as well as being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family is what made her genuinely happy.

Mits was a kind gentle soul, was generous to a fault, and had a delightful dry witty sense of humour that never failed to make one smile. She will be sadly missed.Read More & Leave Condolences »

George Headey

February 3, 1915  –  March 3, 2015

George Headey of Kamloops B.C., passed away on March 3, 2015 at 100 years of age, plus 4 weeks.

Children, Elaine Klassen of Calgary AB, Muriel Ens (Henry) of Vanderhoof B.C, Eleanor Walker (Merv) of Victoria B.C, and Gordon Headey (Tina) of Kamloops B.C

Grandchildren, Joni (Paul), Robbi (Bryan), Brent (Minnie), Brian (Brenda), Wesley (Marina) Richard, Tiffany (Justin) Whitney, Geordon, and Chanel.

Great Grandchildren, Paul (Jr.) Clarise, Taylor, Gracie, Brocksen, Chad, Sidney, Cody, Dallas, Elly, Brent Jr., Adriana, Addison, Emily and Jeremy.

Other relatives, Brother in law George Futer, Sister in law Dorothy Futer and numerous nephews, nieces great and great/great.

Predeceased by, wife Mary, wife Ilene, daughter Joanie, Son Norman, brothers Cyril and Alf, sister Beryl, son in law Erdman, and two brother in laws and two sister in laws.

George was born in Burnaby, B.C, married June 1941 to Mary Futer for 48 years. As essential service he worked on a dairy/poultry farm during World War II.

They moved to Forest Grove, B.C in 1958 for one year. George then moved to Vanderhoof in 1959. Operating a B/A Oil/Gulf Oil Bulk Plant before moving to Kamloops, B.C. in 1970. Then running his own company, doing building maintenance before retiring in 1982.

Georges’ hobbies were trap shooting and gardening. He shot his 200,000^th registered trap in 2001 and continued shooting until 2010 at the age of 95 years old.

Remarried in 1990 to Ilene for 14 years, moved to the Renaissance in 2007, then to the Hamlets, and then to the Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Facility.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of George to the Canadian Cancer Society and Marjorie Snowden Willoughby Hospice Home.

Reta Joan Kerr of Kamloops passed away on March 3, 2015 at 75 years of age. She will be lovingly remembered  by her husband David Kerr, son  Peter Kerr of Kamloops, her sisters Grace Cottrell and Pam (James) Hambrook, all of Kamloops. She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Bill Moore.  Joan will also be fondly missed by her best friend of 67 years, Carol (Holt) Taylor and many of her other close friends.   Joan was born and grew up in North Kamloops. She attended North Kamloops Elementary, followed by Kam High,  graduating in 1957. Joan participated in the band program and played on the Red Angel’s basketball team.  She studied at UBC and achieved a Bachelor of Education and continued on to teach in the Kamloops School District for many years. She married her husband, David Kerr, in 1963 and together they raised their son, Peter Kerr. After she retired from teaching, she kept herself busy managing her rental properties.

Reta Joan Kerr will be missed by all that knew her.

 The Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 9, 2015 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive. Following the service, Joan will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in Joan’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Clara Myer of Kamloops passed away on March 2, 2015. She is survived by her loving husband Walter “Wally”, brother Edwin “Ed” (Lin), nieces Colleen Shonwise and Shelly Biglow. She was predeceased by her father in 1950, mother in 1975, and sister Irene (Wayne) in 2011.  Wally and Clara were married in June 1952. Clara was not only my wife, she was my lover and my very best friend. We moved from the Lower Mainland to Kamloops in 1967.  We have resided in various parts of the city, moving into Cottonwood Manor in 1997. Clara loved this area because of the beautiful surrounding countryside and the various lakes.                    Special thanks to the R.I.H. staff on 5^th, 6^th, and 7th floors and a very special thanks to Dr. Mavis Hollman.                                                                                                                                                                 Memorial donations may made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation or Kamloops Hospice, in memory of my beloved Clara.
