Darlene Yvonne Mulcahy (nee Dorsch)

April 17, 1932 – October 21, 2018

Darlene, aged 86, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Ridgeview Lodge, Kamloops, on October 21, 2018.  She is survived by her children, Michael, Edmonton, Ralph (Sharon), Kamloops, Ronald (Anne), Clearwater, Susan Fairbairn, Calgary and Amy Goatley, Merritt; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her father, Harry Dorsch (Dell), mother, Selma Scambler (Jim), husband, Frank Mulcahy, grandson, Shane Mulcahy,  great-granddaughter, Allison Smelski and her dear friend Fern Hansen.

Darlene started life in Carstairs, AB with moves to Richmond, Ft Langley, Merritt and Kamloops.  Darlene was a foster mom to many babies while raising her children and then later enjoyed taking many trips with Amy throughout BC and the Territories. She travelled to many countries throughout the world and in her 70’s started spending the winters in Hanoi with her Vietnamese “family”.

With failing health she moved to The Shores in Kamloops, with a final move to Ridgeview Lodge in August 2018.

We would like to thank her longtime Doctor, Duncan Ross, whom she considered a friend, and the wonderful staff at Ridgeview for their care and compassion.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 26, 2018 in the Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive. Viewing will take place prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  Graveside at Hillside Cemetery to follow the service and reception. Flowers gratefully accepted.

Lorene fennell…. Sharon and family. Condolences to you all. So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I know that the visit that your Mom, my Mom and Fern had a few years ago was a lot of fun. Mom talked about it quite a bit. Now I guess the 3 of them will have a good visit Iin heaven.

My condolences to your family. Darlene was my neighbor at Sun Valley Court. I will always remember her and her beautiful garden, amazing stories and home made bread. I admired her strength and courage to travel so far away to Hanoi to visit her other family. I will miss her.

    Tammy,
Thank you for your condolences. We will always be thankful to you for saving our Mom that night. We had a wonderful 2 yrs with her here in Kamloops. She loved that little flower album you made for her and we even used some of those photos for her memory board at the service to a show her love for flowers. Just met your mom in town the other day and we had a good chat!
Thank you foe being a good neighbour to mom!
    Sharon
