1950-2018

Dwayne Alexander Maier of Kamloops passed away on August 22, 2018 at 68 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife Susan as well as his children Allison Konrad, Stephanie Konrad, Teresa (James) Maier and Brant Maier also grandchildren Jade, Deegan, Shain, Raina, Jayne, Olivia, sister Marcella and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Zelma (Horst) Maier, father Alex (Freida) Giles and a brother Fred (Sandy).

Dwayne was born in Medicine Hat, AB and raised in Redcliffe, AB. Working at the Glass Factory before moving to Kamloops where he worked at Tranquille and later became a stay at home dad for a few years. He then contracted with Via Rail in his  last couple of years, before retiring. He loved to garden and was proud of his lawn. Dwayne was dedicated to weight training and in great shape. His passing was unexpected and he will be greatly missed.

Donations in Dwayne’s memory maybe made to the Charity of the donor’s choice.

    Truly sorry for your loss and thinking of you all.
    Dwayne was always an integral member of the Giles family.
    I remember him at family dinners with gram And grampa Giles, and had a chuckle recently reading a letter he wrote to Dad Alex, 1966 wherein he described his evening at bingo w gram, and making his own punching bag.
    Everyone was glad when the twins visited in Medicine Hat, and especially Dwaynes Dad Alex Giles at the ranch.
    Again, very saddened about the unexpected loss and extending sympathy…
