One Tribute
As we, the Marr kids, were growing up as neighbours, Lester remembers Mr. Swiatkewich as an avid hunter. One of his earliest memories, at about seven years old, was seeing a moose hanging in the Swiatkewich basement — jaw-droppingly awesome for a little boy!
Frank was such a large, jolly fellow with a big personality. Frances and I, being the oldest, remember him most as Mr. Swiatkewich — the dad with the booming laugh who played with all the kids. My younger sisters were a little intimidated by his larger-than-life presence, but that was part of what made him so unforgettable.
Our parents have called you all the “Sweet Cabbage” family because they could not pronounce your last name; however, this did not detract from the deep warmth felt between the families as we lived right across the street.
Thinking of you all and remembering him very fondly.
