Jean Evelyn Bell 1921 — 2017

Jean Evelyn Bell

July 16, 1921 – May 28, 2017

Jean Evelyn Bell of Kamloops, BC passed away on May 28, 2017 at 95 years of age. She is survived by her children Ronald Bell, Donna (Gerry) Lysyk and James (Dianne) Bell and her sister Nina Fooks.  Grandchildren Susan Bell, Tara Ikeda, Trevor Lysyk, Lisa Kempton, Kevin Lysyk, Kiley Janes and Allison Bell, great-grandchildren Katie & Ashton Price, Kiyoshi Ikeda, Ashleigh Stettner, Maggie, Gage & Cole Kempton, Tamara & Haley Lysyk, Lachlan & Willa Janes. Jean was predeceased by Keith (husband), Idana Bell (daughter in law),  Kay & Al Harper and Alan Fooks.

Mom was born in Calgary but spent most of her life in Kamloops, with stops along the way in Blue River and Jasper. Family was most important to her. She loved to garden and share her produce with family and friends.  Mom was a very special lady with a huge heart. She always had a positive and happy outlook on life, her favorite saying was,

“We are so lucky, aren’t we blessed!!”

Special thanks to the wonderful caring staff at The Hamlets and Pine Grove, who looked after her so well these past few years.

    To the Bell family,
Remember your mother when you lived at the pipe-line circle in Jasper many years ago. Please know that you are our my thoughts during this difficult time.

Mrs Bell was the best neighbor. She loved sharing her peaches with the girls. We have many good memories of Pine Cres.

Such a lovely lady and friend. Jean met mom at St. Ann’s Academy when they were 17. Life long friends in Kamloops. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to her family. From Myrtle McGillivray and Roxy, Michele & Chris Mansus.

Maureen: Mom always missed having you as her neighbor. She delighted in the girls and their blonde curly hair playing in the backyard in the summer. Thank you so much for remembering her and leaving a note.

We have such fond memories of Mrs.Bell and living across the street from her for many years until she moved to the Hamlets. She so often would leave vegetables from her lovely garden on our front steps. May she rest in peace.

I found a Christmas Card with a long note from Jean inside in my mother’s effects just now. Having moved to Toronto a long time ago, I had not seen her since my teens, but I look at her smile and remember that face, much younger and smiling in exactly the same way.

My dad loved your dad and mom, and Keith’s friendship was one of the most important in Dad’s life…really the most important.

On behalf of both parents, and my family, belated condolences to you all.
