MERLE JOHN ROBINSON 1961 — 2023

MERLE JOHN ROBINSON

Merle passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on the evening of December 26, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Johanna of 43 years, his son Justin (Gabrielle), his daughter Cyrena, and his two grandchildren Kaylee and Ty. He was also very fond of his granddog Bentley. He was predeceased by his parents Eldon & Bertha Robinson, and his siblings Lyle, Dale, Mavis and Karen.

Merle’s generosity, intelligence and humor endeared him to numerous friends throughout the years. Merle was our mad scientist, inventor, entertainer and writer. He liked to understand how things worked and was forever tinkering & building. He enjoyed making his friends laugh using his ironic wit.

Merle’s work life started in his dads sawmill in Kamloops at age 16. He had many different careers throughout his years such as Business Owner, Trucker, Fabricator and Musician.

Merle was a dedicated family man. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. Spending time with his siblings was a joy for Merle. His numerous cousins, nieces, nephews as well as many loyal dear friends will remember him fondly. These ones will remember his unwavering faith in his creator and how it brought him joy.

Merle’s last words of wisdom and advice to his family & friends would have been, “Better to create a good day, than to have one” and “I’ll be waiting to share a sambuca around the campfire with you soon.”

As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Merle looked forward to a time when sickness and death would be done away with. (Rev 21:4) He was unshakable in his hope of a resurrection to a paradise earth where he will be with his family again.

The Robinson family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the outstanding medical team at Royal Inland Hospital. Firstly, for delivering him into this world, and also for the extraordinary care and respect he received during his passing. A special appreciation goes to Dr. Pretorius, Dr. Gabriel, and his compassionate Respiratory Therapist, Tanis.

The family also acknowledges the invaluable contributions of the ER staff, paramedics, firefighters, and the dedicated staff on 7N on the evening of December 26th. Words cannot adequately convey our appreciation for the immense respect and dignity shown to Merle in his final days and hours by everyone who tended to his care.

We also would like to thank his friends, the Leigh Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, his neighbors and all who supported the family with kindness, care and patience through-out his battle with cancer.

A graveside service will be held this spring. Date and location TBD. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.kamloopsfuneralhome.com
