Mona Jean “Hall” Giesbrecht, aged 86, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Monday, October 30th, 2023.
Mona was born in Eckville, Alberta, on October 16th, 1937, to Gladys and Reginald Hall. She had four siblings: Bobby (Roberta), Dean, Keith, and Doug, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She had a close relationship with her Aunt Laverne and her sister Bobby’s eight children.
In 1954, at the age of 17, Mona took a train from Alberta to British Columbia, where she would spend the rest of her life.
In 1960, Mona met her husband Walter and married in 1961. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Both of them enjoyed watching sports and shared a competitive spirit by playing backgammon every morning for over 40 years. They both volunteered for over 80 years combined at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 52.
In 1964, Mona and Walter welcomed their first son, Michael Dean, and in 1965, their daughter, Kathryn Laverne. Dean (Heidi) had two children, Hailey and Grayson, and Kathryn (Kevin) had two children, Keenan and Keanna.
Mona was predeceased by her mother, Gladys, father, Reginald, brothers, Dean and Keith, sister, Bobby, and, sadly, her son, Dean, in 2011.
Mona was a loving mom, wife, and thoughtful daughter, sister, and friend. She was dedicated to her causes and always put others first. Her thousands of volunteer hours were a testament to her giving character. She was very crafty and had a great sense of humor right to the end. Her career as a bookkeeper spanned over many decades.
Mona will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to donate, Mona had many favorite charities. The Canadian Red Cross, RH Foundation, War Amps, and TB Vets were just a few.
Mona’s Celebration of life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 425 Lansdowne, Kamloops.
Condolences may be sent to the family from www.kamloopsfuneralhome.com.

Sorry to hear of Mona’s passing.
We always remember her from our years at the Legion. She always stepped up to volunteer whenever the Branch said they needed help. She always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by a lot of people along with her family.
Our prayers for Walter and family. May she rest in peace.
