Eva Beda Teresia Johnston 1921 — 2018

Eva Beda Teresia Johnston

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Eva Beda Teresia Johnston on July 3, 2018 at the age of 97.

Eva is predeceased by her loving husband James (Jim) Earnest Johnston.  She is survived by her three children Kenneth (Judy) Johnston, Jerald (Arlene) Johnston, Irene (Brian) Laroque.  Her grandchildren; Joanne (Andrew) Stacey, Kathy Pothier, Sheralyn Johnston, Tressa (Brian) Laupitz, Sonya (Bobby) Garcia, Brian Johnston, Carl (Sarah) Johnston, Keri (Simon Allen) Ketter and Erika Ketter.  Her great grandchildren; Cody Allen, Bailee (Justin) Tesan, Tristan and Teagan Pothier, Kai Birks, Keyton and Preston Laupitz, Austin and Colby Garcia.  Her great great grandchildren Jaxson and Bella Tesan, Grace Johnston and Paisley Pothier.

A service will be held on Friday July 13th, 2018, at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 1505 Sunset Avenue, Merritt, B.C. at 2 pm.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday July 14th, 2018 at the Elks Hall, 1702 Coldwater Avenue, Merritt, B.C. at 2 pm.  We invite all her family and friends to share memories and stories.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Gillis House for all their care and support.

We would also like to give a special thanks and appreciation to all those who were with Eva throughout her time at Gillis especially, Linda, Renata and Kathy.

Raymond Saretsky 1933 — 2018

Raymond Saretsky

Our beloved husband and father passed away June 27th, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Ray was born in Humboldt Saskatchewan into a large farming family. His strong faith in God was the source of his strength even in his last moments. Ray loved horses and Starbucks coffee and was fondly referred to as the ‘Horse Whisperer’.  He is survived by his Wife; Lily, his Daughters; Amy, Monique and Morena, his Grandchildren; Matthew (Natalia), Justin, Mary,  Sharmaine, Ava, and Isabel, his Brothers; Donald (Ann), Dennis (Claudette), his Sisters; Margaret, Mary (Art) and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday July 14th, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Interment of cremains to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

We are deeply grateful to Dr. R.P. Farren, and all the nurses, staff,and volunteers at Kamloops Hospice Association, for the extraordinary care provided to our entire family. Your open hearts and exceptional kindness helped to ease our grief.

In lieu of flowers , please make a donation to the Kamloops Hospice Association in Memory  of Ray.

Nelly Olson 1928 — 2018

Nelly Olson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nelly Olson.

Nelly passed away peacefully on June 23,2018 . She was predeceased by her husband Mart who passed away in 2000. Nelly leaves behind her loving sons Neal and Lyle , daughter Jo-Ann, grandsons Matthew and Tyler and granddaughters Nicole, Meghan, Caitlin and Allison.

Nelly was a very kind and loving person who was always there for her family. She was an avid crib player and was involved in volunteering with many seniors activities. She was truly a special person and her love and kindness will never be forgotten. Nelly will be greatly missed by her family. No formal service by her request .

Joan Ogilvie 1938 — 2018

Joan Ogilvie

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joan Ogilvie of Enderby, BC on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 at 80 years of age.

Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Bruce Ogilvie.

She is survived by her daughter Vicky Fox of Chestermere and her son Rod Ogilvie of Enderby; her five grandchildren Brad (Taarna) Ogilvie, Tina LaPlaca, Ashley (Adam) Ogilvie, Sean (Tessa) Fox, Courtney (Mitch) Fox; her ten great-grandchildren Trysten, Shane, Carson, Carter, Kinsley, Brooklynne, Bailee, Memphys, Emma, Ethan; one great-grandson Orion; sisters Carole Collins, Janice (Doug) Little, Sharon (Bill) Perrie; sisters in-law Joan, Dawn, Pam; and nieces and nephews, who were all special to her.

She was predeceased by her brothers in-law, Frank, Bill and Jack.

Joan was born in New Westminster April 14, 1938 and raised in Kamloops as a city girl. She met her husband Bruce, a country boy at the Falkland Stampede where it was love at first sight. They lived on Silver Star Mountain in Vernon where they raised their two children and she learned to be a country girl. They moved to the Dawson Creek area, then back to the interior where they made their home in Enderby.

Joan loved her family, loved to travel, go on mini-adventures, visit a casino and cheer loudly for the Vancouver Canucks and BC Lions.

Joan will be deeply and dearly missed by all that knew her.

 A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 pm, Sunday June 24th, 2018 at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive.

Memorial donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Spinal Cord Injury BC.
