James Phillips (Phil)  Hallinan

September 7, 1940 – April 28,2015

 

Phil passed away peacefully at hospice after a lengthy illness at the age of 74 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years Rita, son David (Phyllis), daughter Vera, grandchildren Grant(Teresa) Kristen (Ryan, Georgia, David,James and great-grandson Zackary Phil also fondly remembered by his sister Sheilagh (Irv), brother Bruce stepsister Diana, stepbrother Harry(Brenda), sister-in-law Vera, brother-in-law Edward (Deb) ,his nieces and nephews Catherine, Ken (Deanna), Kathy (Gordon), Amy, Cyd, Jennifer, Robin, Tyler and Erin. Phil is also lovingly remembered by his aunt Betty Fribance.

Phil was predeceased by his father George, mother Kathleen, and stepmother Patricia.

Phil was born in Princeton, but raised on Copper Mountain where he lived until his teenage years. There he developed a love and a appreciation for nature and in particular, he enjoyed hunting and fly-fishing. His love of the outdoors was evident throughout his life. Phil was a creative thinker who had the gift of being able to re-invent himself. After working or Evans products for 28 years, a job that returned him to the interior,Phil the worked in a variety of jobs involving the outdoors, retiring at 69 from the Fraser Basil Council, Shuswap Region. Phil was also an avid volunteer in many outdoor organizations at the local, provincial and national levels. He discovered a new passion for supporting the outdoors by writing and eventually becoming editor for the BCWF publication, The Outdoor Edge. He was a true steward of the earth and he imparted this knowledge, respect and love of the outdoors to his family. Happy times with the family included  hunting time with his Labrador Retrievers, fly-fishing, camping and driving in the bush spotting wildlife.

Special Thanks and appreciation to Marianne Aduini and to the Home First Program’s dedicated team and to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Phil. Thank you to the staff of the Ponderosa Adult Day Program who brought joy to Phil. Thank you to our extended family and friends for your love and support. Your kindness will be remembered always.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Phil’s life will be held at Our Lady Perpetual Help Parish(235 Poplar Street) Kamloops and will be celebrated by Father Martin Peyton on Thursday May 7th 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made  to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden  Hospice Home or a charity of the donors choice in Phil’s memory.

Irene Mary Wegner 1931 — 2015

Irene Mary Wegner

Irene Mary Wegner of Kamloops passed away on April 28, 2015 at the age of 83 years. She is survived by her loving family; Richard (Christine) Wegner, Daniel (Dorothy) Wegner, Patricia (Robert) Corrigan, Kathryn (Louie) Szilagyi, Steven Wegner, Diane (Paul) Cordonier, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Wally Wegner; parents Ann and Peter Gayda; brother Ed Gayda, grandson Christopher Corrigan, in laws Samuel and Ottilia Wegner. Irene was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on June 27, 1931. Irene met Wally in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and they were married on April 7, 1953. Together they had 6 children. They moved to Kamloops in 1974 and were married 59 years. Not only was Irene an accomplished pianist, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and was a wonderful artist and painter. Elsie May Dee of Pritchard BC passed away on April 26th,2015 at the age of 92 years. Elsie is survived by her loving husband Danny and children; Larry(Elaine), Reg(Linda) and Donna(Wayne) Becker, also ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory brothers; Bill, Lloyd, Jim and a sister Reta, as well as nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and many dear friends. A visitation will be held on Friday May 1st, 2015 between 4-6:30 PM in the Rosewood Room at the Kamloops Funeral Home(285-Fortune drive) A Funeral Service will be held at Adams Lake Recreation and Conference Centre(6349-Chief Jules Drive  Chase BC) on Saturday May 2nd, 2015 at 11:00 AM

A Memorial Service to celebrate Mitch’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m. in the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. The family asks that people not wear black, but show up in plaid or sweatpants if they can because that’s what Mitch would want.

Ashley Robichaud

Ashley was born on March 4th,1981 and passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on April 9th,2015 at the age of 34 years old. Ashley was a beautiful soul who lit up the world around her with her amazing smile, sparkling eyes and her vibrant personality. She leaves to mourn her passing her mom and dad, Daryl & Sharon Smeeton and their family, her home support mother Robin DeWolf and her family, her birth mother, Lise Mulridge and her family, her best friend and long time house mate, Connie Mackay, her caregivers Kelly, Cheryl and Michelle, all her past care givers and friends. She also leaves to mourn all her friends and support workers at Options & Opportunity and staff members who worked with Ashley from Dengarry Professional Services. Ashley was predeceased by her brother, Calvin and her home support father, Scot DeWolf.

 Ashley your chair no longer bounds you to this earth soar with angels now. You will be dearly missed by all who knew you. See you again one day.

 A Funeral Service for Ashley will be held on Friday, April 17th,2015 at 3:00p.m in the Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive, in Kamloops, BC.
