Bertha Roming

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bertha Roming of Kamloops, BC, on April 21st, 2014 at 95 years of age. Bertha is survived by her children Bill (Marian) Roming of Chilliwack, BC, Dennis Roming of Kamloops, BC, and Joyce Holm of Kamloops, BC. Also left to cherish Bertha’s memory are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, as well as brothers and sisters Herb (Bertha) Kreger, Norman (Ella) Kreiger, and Alice Stewart.

Bertha is predeceased by her husband Fred, son Don, her mother Mary, father Reinhold, brothers Lloyd and Albert, sister Grace, and grandson Paul.

Mom lived at the “Hamlets”, and loved attending Pub night every Thursday to listen to the different bands that came in to play their music. She was also known as the “Knitting Queen”, making toques for the babies at the Royal Inland Hospital.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses in emergency, and to Sue for taking such good care of Grandma. Thank you to the Hamlets staff for taking care of Mom.

A Graveside Service for Bertha will take place at the Chilliwack Cemetery later in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bertha’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.

Christopher John Dabner 1952 — 2014

Christopher John Dabner

Christopher John Dabner of Kamloops, BC, passed away on April 25, 2014 at the age of 61.  He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Dabner; mother, Hilda Dabner; sons, Jamie Dabner (Tera) & Samuel Dabner (Amy); grandchildren, Kennedy and Krew; brother, Phil Dabner;  mother-in-law, Ruth Stirling;  nephew, Jason Dabner (Erika); grand nieces, Zoe and Ava; sister-in-law, Kathie Cross (Woody). Chris also leaves his family in Plymouth, Devon, England and Malton, Yorkshire, England.  Chris was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Samuel Dabner.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of

John Henry Junior Mattie of Kamloops, BC on April 23, 2014 at 55 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Lynn Mattie of 39 years, children Dan (Burgleigh) Mattie, Jolien (Jay) Lowley and Crystal Mattie all of Kamloops, BC, grandchildren Dinee Kiyah, Jax, Angel, Myleigh, Jonathan and Kingston, his Father John Daniel Mattie and mother-in-law Doreen Peters, brothers and sisters Kathy (Jim) Bacon, Roberta Greenhough, Bill (Kathy) McGinn, Shirly (Archie) Shmultz, Betty (Les) Perkins, Bill (Ronda) Lenord, Delorse Mattie, Armand Bye, Rick (Monica) Bye, Marion Bye, Brenda Bye and Marilyn Clark.

He was predeceased by his mother Alice, his brother Daniel, Stepfather (In-law) Ron, as well as Steve, Murry and Doug,

John was a great and hard working man. He worked for Pounder Emulsions (Husky Oil) for 18 years. John also enjoyed helping out many buddies at Kamloops Septic. John had many friends but most of all he really enjoyed his family. He loved his kids and adored his grand kids.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday April 30,2014 at 2:00 pm. in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with a tea to follow at 795 Settlement Drive.

James Robert DeLong 1921 — 2014

James Robert DeLong

James Robert DeLong passed away on Sunday, April 27th, 2014 in Kamloops, BC, at the age of 92.

Born in Toronto, Ontario in 1921 to James and Vivien DeLong, he is survived by his sister Frances, his first wife Ruth, his children Paul and Blaise, and his grandchildren, Matthew,Andrea, and Wayland, who will all miss him dearly.

He is predeceased by his second wife, Josephine. He will be missed by her daughter Marsha, son-in-law Kirk, sons Jim and Bob, and grandkids, Candace and Heather.

Jim was loved by family and friends for his warmth and great sense of humour. He made a wonderful impression on everyone he met. He was also quite an accomplished artist, and many of his friends and family have his paintings hanging on their walls.

Jim had a successful career in the plastics industry in Canada and was a sought after sales rep for Monsanto, then BASF and latterly Toshiba.

He was a popular member of The Society of Plastic Engineers.

He served his country in the Second World War as a member of the 23rd Field Regiment, 31st Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, and was wounded while overseas.

Special thanks to the nurses and care aides at the Hamlets at Westsyde for taking such special care of James over the last few years.

Toal Robert 1954 — 2014

Toal  Robert

Peacefully with supportive staff, Bob Toal passed away on April  22nd at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home in Kamloops, B.C.

Bob was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. He was a loving son to John and brother to Patrick ,Jerry and sister Cheryl (Blais) . Predeceased by his mother Beverly. Bob was an uncle and great uncle to many nephews and nieces.

Bob moved to Kamloops over 14 year ago and during his time there he  has met some really good friends .

He will be sadly missed by many !

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of life will be held in Hamilton ,Ontario on May 4th.2014

Gone but not forgotten!
