Our brave, beautiful husband, father and grandfather passed away on Wednesday afternoon of the New Year, surrounded by the comforts of love and family. Left to miss him so very much are his loving wife Pat, sons Brent (Laurie, Sam, Matt), Paul (Laura, Ben, Megan), Steven (Kevina, Elias, Aaron), daughter Trish (Josh), brother and sister Larry and Odell and their families and many close and dear friends. Dennis was predeceased by his baby daughter Denise. Even in sadness, joy, as we let Dennis’ great spirit carry us forward. We will be with him in every beating of the wings, every rustling of the leaves, and every time we hear a song he loved to play. We welcome friends and family to a Memorial Tea at the Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive on Monday, January 6th, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we know Dennis would appreciate contributions to Royal Inland Hospital, who took such great care of him as he prepared for his journey home. And He will raise you up on eagles’ wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand.

John Durr 1977 — 2013

John Durr

Date of Service: December 31, 2013

March 10, 1977 – December 31, 2013

John Alan Durr March 10, 1977 – December 31, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son and brother. John was born and raised on the family farm in Saskatchewan where he first discovered his passion for drums and anything with an engine. The family moved to Kamloops, BC when John was 13 and Westsyde quickly became his stomping ground. John loved new challenges and had many different careers in his short time here. He worked for Greyhound for many years, and then discovered his calling for sales with Surfwood Supply. Never one to stay in the same place for long, he turned his attention to mining in the Yukon and felt an instant connection in the land of the midnight sun. No matter what new career or city John turned his attention to, his passion for music was the one constant in his life. He played for countless bands over the years as a drummer and never went anywhere without his sticks. His vibrant personality, boundless energy and genuine love of people attracted so many friends and he was just the person you always wanted to be around. John is predeceased by his Father Alan and leaves to mourn his mother, Jane, siblings Jay and Alison, and countless relatives and friends whose lives he touched deeply. There will be a private family service held for John with a memorial to be set at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or the charity of your choice
