Ewart Lional McQueen of Kamloops passed away on December 29, 2013 at 80 years of age. Survived by his wife Izzy, three children and six grandchildren. Son Doug (Susan) McQueen ( Shawna, Shannelle, Shelby and Chad), daughter Sharlene (John) Bowers (Tanner (Jordi) and Darcy (Jodi) LeBourdais and son Jim (Anne) McQueen. Ewart is predeceased by his Brother Allan McQueen of Saint Albert, Alberta. Born in Jasper Alberta on November 27, 1933, Ewart spent his youth riding horses, fishing and camping in the park. At the age of 17 he hired on with CN Railway, in 1967 the family moved to Kamloops, Ewart retired after 37 years on May 31, 1989. The Family spent their summers at Shuswap Lake. Ewart took great pride in his grand children rarely missing a hockey, baseball, soccer game or practice. Ewart and Izzy are dedicated Blazer fans and have supported the teams from their seats in section “A” for many years. At Ewarts request there will not be a service the family will gather this summer in Jasper to celebrate Dads, Grampa life. Special thanks to the Doctors and especially the Nurses on 7 North and Step Down ICU at Royal Inland Hospital for their exceptional care and support

On December 28th, 2013, Dorothy Peck of Kamloops passed away at 90 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Edward, daughter, Joan Mellows, sisters Sophie, Edith, Mary and Katie as well as brother, Eddie. Dorothy is survived by her son Don Peck and daughter-in-law Jackie, grandchildren Cheryl Drennan (Shawn), Darryl Mellows (Hako), Chris Peck (Tara), Kerry Peterson (Chris) and Andrew Peck, great-grandchildren Brody, Keira, Mia, Kian, Charlie, Jesse, Ryan, Tanner and many nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her sister Elsie Dolynuk, and brothers Jack Miller and Rudy Miller (Doreen). Dorothy was born on January 12th, 1923 in Eatonia, SK. She met her husband Ed in Hedley, BC, while working at the Nickel Plate Mine and they were married on February 9th, 1946. In 1955 they moved to Kamloops where they resided ever since. Dorothy worked for many years at Blue Star Taxi and Yellow Cabs as a dispatcher and bookkeeper. Mom loved her family and her dogs, and was famous for her turkey dinners. Thanks to the staff at Overlander Residential Care (Blueberry Lane) for their excellent care of Dorothy for the last two years. A family gathering will be held in the spring

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Gillingham (née Humber) of Logan Lake, BC on December 21st, 2013 at 71 years of age. Shirley will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. A Service of Remembrance for Shirley will be held at a later date in the Logan Lake Community Church.
