Inge Robin 2015 — 2015

Inge Robin of Kamloops passed away peacefully with friends Marilyn Bruno and Teri Cordonier by her side, on June 25, 2015 at 78 years of age. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Robin in 2007. Inge had many friends in her life and enjoyed living at Cottonwood Manor. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Inge’s memory may be made to the S.P.C.A., 1211-8th St., Kamloops BC  V2B 2Y3 or to the charity of your choice. There will be no formal service by request. Special thanks to the nurses on ICU and 4th Floor.

Robert William Black 1925 — 2015

Robert William Black

December 17, 1925 ~ June 23, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert William Black of Oxbow, Saskatchewan. Robert is survived by sisters Jean Smith and Margaret Sanders, his two daughters Donna (Gerry) and Cathy (Carl), four grandchildren Leslie, Nicole, Shaylyn and Corey, as well as niece and nephews Marg, Chris and Bob Smith. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife Aileen, sister Barbara, brothers Frank, Norman and Nathan as well as nephew Dave Smith. Born into a family of seven, he will also be remembered by many more cousins and family members. Dad farmed the prairies in Gilbert Plains and Grandview, Manitoba for years before enlisting in the army in October of 1943. He served his country in Belgium and Holland during WWII and was later a proud member of the Gilbert Plains Legion and Elks Canada.

John “Red” Williams 2015 — 2015

John “Red” Williams

John “Red” Williams of Heffley Creek passed away on June 21, 2015 at 86 years of age.  He is survived by his loving wife Sara, son Jay (Annelise) Williams of Ottawa, grandchild Bronwyn Williams, cousins Katie Michell, daughter Susan (Jason) McGillivray and her son Ralph Michell; niece Brenda (John) Myers; nephews Geoff, Jim, and Norm Petersen. Predeceased by sister Dorothy Petersen and her spouse Ken. Red was born and raised in Kamloops, originally living at 711 Pine St. He left home in his teens, living in many places in Kamloops, before finally settling on a beautiful piece of property just north of Heffley Creek. From here, Red would create strong ties within the Heffley Creek community, which included helping to build the Heffley Creek Hall. He was a strong community member, as he served on the KXA Board and was a leader for many 4H clubs in the Kamloops region.Read More & Leave Condolences »

Douglas Carlyle Ferguson 1919 — 2015

Douglas Carlyle Ferguson

May 28, 1919 ~ June 21, 2015

Doug was the beloved husband for almost 70 years to wife, Sylvia and loving father to daughter Joan (John) Norrington and son Alan (Dian Aylwin) Ferguson. “Pa” to step grandchildren Wendy and Brad, great grandchildren Bradyn and Martina. Predeceased by parents Reverend T.J.S. Ferguson and Dr. Amy Ferguson, brother Gordon and sister Helen of Nelson. Doug was a proud WW II veteran having served with the RCAF for five years, spending 2 1/2 years overseas. He worked for the Land Titles office in Vancouver and Kamloops for 33 years, retiring in 1978. Doug loved golf as a member of the Kamloops Golf and Country Club and also enjoyed bowling with the seniors every week. He was a very social person playing crib with the Empty Nesters and taking pennies off his Rummouli friends.

We wish to thank the wonderful nurses and care aides at the Hamlets. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Doug’s name to a charity of your choice.

The Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2015 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Dr.

Donna Steel 1940 — 2015

Donna Lilus Steel (nee Hicks)

February 8, 1940 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

June 17, 2015 – Kamloops, British Columbia

Donna passed away peacefully on June 17, 2015 at the age of 75 years. She was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK and subsequently lived in Brandon, MB, Thompson, MB, Burnaby, BC, Wetaskiwin, AB and Calgary, AB, raising a family of her own. Donna was a Manager for People’s Jewelers and then began a successful career with Walmart, as a Divisional Manager in Kamloops, B.C. for over 30 years where staff, friends and customers adored her.  She was kind, humble and compassionate and loved working with people. She participated in the community and volunteered her time to the Kidney Foundation and Kamloops Theatre.  Among her many passions, Donna loved to cook, bake, walk and explore nature with Ken, spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren and pamper her dogs Herkie and Sukki.

 

Donna is lovingly remembered and missed by Ken Stokstad, her husband of 35 wonderful years, his son Forrest, sister-in-law Ruth all in Kamloops, B.C; her children in Calgary, AB; son Richard Steel (friend Patti) and daughters Shelley Steel (Jason Cornford), Robin Steel; brother-in-law Jim Holden; nephew Cory Holden (Silke) and their children; grandchildren Chancey Steel (Matthias Jobs), Devin Cote, Jason Hills (Heather), great grandchildren Kylie Hills, Dominic and Noah Steel-Jobs.

She was preceded by her parents Lyle and Suzanne Hicks, daughter Nadine Steel, her sister Glee Holden and her nephew Michael Craig.

 

She is also remembered by her former husband, Garry Steel and his family and relatives.

 

A service will be held for family and close friends on Friday June 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM, at the Rocky view Garden of Peace Chapel in Calgary, AB
