I will forever remember my time with Aunty Jean and cousin Gayle at my brother Joe’s house in Valemount last year. There were many stories shared and lots of laughter over 3 days. I feel truly blessed to have spent the time I did with Aunty Jean when I could make the Rhindress coffees on Tuesdays and stopping by her apartment for a visit. She is at peace and in a beautiful place now.

Rest in peace Aunty Jean!!!! –

‘Birdie’ – I can hear Uncle Larry say and see the smile on his face!! – and the loving banter between the two of you continues on forever!

Whenever I think of you – I hear laughter and it always puts a smile on my face.

My memories of you are many and varied – Always at the center of those memories are times spent together as a family.

I remember a welcoming home wherever you lived – the door was always open to visitors.

For some reason, being a child – I loved the idea that you had real chickens with fluffy baby chicks! That memory stuck with me when you lived by the ‘Blue Bridge’ and freshly laid eggs, Baby Rolly Polly pugs, crotcheting, storytelling, endless cups of coffee, of course, Uncle Larry and the love you both had for one another…the banter between the 2 of you would have me in awe of this pair of lovebirds. Birdie – I’ll never forget that term of endearment!!! – Who could?

It always struck me that being part of the ‘Rhindress Family’ meant you may not always have a lot in material terms but the love and essence of family and time spent with family were cherished. I think that is the legacy of Grandpa & Grandma Rhindress.

An ongoing reminder of that is the monthly coffee get-togethers. It is a great way of staying in contact with the extended Rhindress family…..and having a good laugh -which always seemed a balm getting through difficult times….laughter seemed to be a great remedy for any troubles.

All my love goes out to you Betty-Lou/Gayle/Rene/Judy/Jimmy/Darlene/Uncle Butch/Penny-Ann/Barry – The sadness and hurt will fade into laughter and memories…they live on in us after all.

Also, all my love, thoughts and prayers to Uncle Jim/Aunty Viola/Aunty Evelyn & Uncle Dennis/Aunty Charlene & Uncle Rod/Aunty Elsie
