Bertha (Elder) Pernitsky
Nov 24, 1925 ~ June 10, 2014
Bertha passed away peacefully at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1973 and grandson William in 2002. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dianne (Peter), Jeanette (Frank), Bill (Patti), John, and Greg (Diane). Her legacy and love will go on in her 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren whom she adored and was always so proud of.
Bertha was born in Scott, Saskatchewan, the second eldest of 14 children. She had been a resident of Kamloops since 1945. Bertha had a loving, caring soul and was always ready with a warm hug. Her love and creativity were shown through liquid embroider, sewing, quilting, hardanger and the knitting of buffalo wool sweaters. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, playing cards, writing in her diaries, baking and cooking dinners for her large family. Her table could always be extended to feed more.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and volunteers of Pine Grove Care Centre for their compassionate care while Bertha was a resident. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pine Grove Residents Society would be greatly appreciated.
Prayers will be recited on Thursday June 19 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
635 Tranquille Rd. Funeral mass will be held on Friday June 20 at 1:00 pm. Reverend Father Peter Nguyen officiating.
“Children hold their mother’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.”
