Marlon Lyle Dosch went on his final adventure on June 10, 2024 as cancer took his life.
Marlon was born in 1962 as the first of 4 children to Richard and Megan. He was curious by nature and was always seeking a new mountain to climb, sports field to conquer, or place to visit.
If you wonder where you met him it really could have been anywhere. He cast a wide net of friends and family who adored his goofy jokes, strength in his kindness, ability to eat anything and lose weight, and belief that a good time was more important than a victory. Marlon was the Mayor of Logan Lake, a master of disc golf, a hiker, a biker, and a lover of camping and reading. He played hockey, slo-pitch and dabbled in golfing.
He raised three girls Amanda (Graham), Laura and Sarah (Ryan) and helped with his step children Mary Hope and Krytale. Being a girl dad did not stop him from teaching them about Christmas tree hunting in deep snow, multiple attempts at fishing, or how to build a campfire in the rain. Marlon’s grandsons added some masculine energy to the mix.
When he met Kate he had found his partner in travel, in adventure, and in life. If there was a day off without a plan it would have been highly unusual. It was off to the Philippines, Europe, Asia, Mexico, Germany, Panama, Belgium, Costa Rica, Columbia, most of the USA and Canada. There was tenting on high mountains, navigating caves, boarding cruise ships and doing weekend drives to nowhere in particular.
Marlon worked for 42 years with the Ministry of Forests. His co-workers were subjected to his quick wit, love of ongoing practical jokes, and a sense of humour that even Marlon himself found hilarious.
Despite his illness he remained gracious, kind and fun loving to others.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 at 1:30pm.
All that shared in Marlon’s adventures are welcomed.

So very sorry to hear of Marlon’s passing. He was a great neighbour and Mayor in Logan Lake. Our condolences to Kate and the family.
I first met Marlon when he was 15 years old and worked at a petrol station. We talked a lot and he expressed his interest in mapping. I encouraged him and he did work hard to get into the career with the BC Forest Service and had a long career! He was always a great coworker and colleague! I first met Kate while in hospital and she was so very kind and helpful! On the very last day of my 3 week stay we were chatting and then figured out that we both knew Marlon! He was so very fortunate to have a wonderful wife and family and that he was able to travel to so many different places in the world! You will be missed my friend!
My condolences to all the family. Marlon loved talking politics and how he saw the big picture . He was a talker, and was curious about where people travelled, he would look up locations on a map He laughed about eating food that Kate didn’t let him eat. Great person and great friend.
I just heard of Marlon’s passing. My sincere condolences to everyone. Take comfort in your memories and each other.
My sincere condolences to Kate and all of Marlons family. Marlon was a kind, funny, creative man who you could rely on in so many ways.
I first knew Marlon when our families lived in 100 Mile House. Shortly after we shared terms on Council for the District of Logan Lake. Marlon brought alot of his ideas to counsel and was a respected member in the community. His girls were his greatest treasures.
I am saddened to hear of his passing.
So very sorry to hear of Marlon’s passing. Marlon was my predecessor and he thoughtfully paved the way for me and I’m grateful to have had the pleasure to know and work with him. My deepest condolences to Marlon’s family as you navigate through these rough times. May your memories sustain you and give you comfort.
Marlon always had a smile for everyone. i hd the great pleasure of working with him for a few years and keeping in touch over the years. so sad to hear of his passing. he will be fondly remembered. hugs and many thoughts to his family that he was so very very proud of.
One story I will always remember happened two christmases ago during a family gift exchange. We were all rolling dice and choosing the best wrapped gifts. At the end of the game, Marlon’s gift turned out to be three boxes of cereal, and we all laughed so hard. Marlon was a caring man, and I feel privileged to have known him. To Kate, and Marlon’s daughters, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope the memories help provide comfort and show you how amazing Marlon was.
One memory I have of Marlon is when he came to visit us a couple of months ago at a cabin in the Shuswap. We sat at the lake skipping rocks and listening to his funny stories. He always knew how to tell a good story. Walking back to the cabin, my daughter took his hand and Marlon was beaming.
Looking back on this memory, I am reminded how precious the simple moments are in our lives. I hope to go back to the lake soon and take a moment to remember Marlon, and how he touched our lives (and try to skip a rock like he could!).
My heartfelt condolences to Kate, his amazing family and all those who loved him dearly. He will never be forgotten.
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. He was way too young.
Marlon, you are remembered by so many. In the few short years of knowing each other, there were some truly unforgettable moments. I will always crack up when I think of or see Crème of Tartar. Your combination of wit and honest joy in the little things is inspiring. Thanks for all the great memories Marlon.
To Kate, the girls, and the rest of your Marlon’s family: I’m sorry for your loss. You truly had an amazing man around and I bet you have a million amazing memories of him. You’re always in our hearts Marlon ❤️
