On April 17, 2014 at 79 years of age Andre Couture of Kamloops, BC passed away. He is survived by his loving wife Doreen Clark and will be missed greatly by his daughter Lydia Couture of Kamloops, BC
He is predeceased by his son Daniel Couture, his brother Bruno Couture, mother and father Lucille & Joseph Couture.
Andre was born in Saint-Paul D’Abbotsford, Quebec on March 25, 1935. His family moved to the Brosseau St. Paul area of Alberta in 1952. He helped on the farm and honed his musical abilities with numerous stringed instruments playing for area barn dances. In his early 20’s he moved to BC where he worked on the Columbia River Duncan Dam construction. He also worked for sometime on the railroad. In 1971 he started working at Lornex Mines, which eventually became Highland Valley Copper. He remained a heavy equipment operator until his early retirement in 1990. Although Andre was unable to play music after his surgery in 1990, he certainly still appreciated music and attended Bluegrass festivals, Jamborees, The Old-time Fiddlers & Rodeo’s. Andre left us peacefully to play his guitar, violin, banjo, accordion, mandolin, piano and harmonica for all our loved ones on the other side.
There will be no service by request. Memorial donations in Andre’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
