Lillian Sloat (nee Wood) passed away peacefully on September 11, 2018, in Kamloops, BC, at the age of 73 surrounded by family.
Lillian’s family was very important to her and her loving husband Delmer. Lillian was often found teasing all with nicknames and sayings of which many have stuck over the years. Her children were: Gwen and son in law Jesse (Vernon), Leslie (Winnipeg), Debra and son in law Ralph(Kamloops) Del and daughter in law Donna(Kelowna) and Dean and daughter and law Camy (Mission), Grandchildren: Crystal, Nicholas, Aaron, Delaney, Katie, Brady, Ryan, Shannon, Shawn, Jared, Destynee and Challen, Great Grandchildren: Kian, Ethan, Jayden, Hailee, Damien and Landon.
Lillian grew up in the small community of Manigotagan, which is situated on the Manigotagan River in Manitoba. She is of the Peguis First Nation. She grew up in a family of 15 that included her parents John and Elizabeth and 5 sisters (Betty, Bernice, Mildred Thelma and Nettie) and 7 brothers (Howard, Larry, Roland, Alden, Lester, Vernon, and Irvin) which provided a hell of a lot of boisterous fun. This life lead her to being a woman who was the envy of the dance floor and a mama that was able to provide a never ending supply of homemade bannock and barley soup.
