In the Years that followed she met Gordon Gilbert and they wed at wars end. They resided on the Gilbert farm until 1957, at which time they moved with their 5 young sons to Port Alberni.

They then moved to Kamloops in 1964, where Freda worked in the credit office of Woodward’s store. In 1976, Freda and Gordon left for Fort St. John to develop four sections of land into a viable farm. Selling the property in 1986, they retired in Parksville then in 1992 to Barriere where they resided for 14 years.

Upon the passing of Gordon in 2006, Freda moved to the Hamlets at Westsyde in Kamloops and then later to Pine Grove Care Centre.

WAYNE TSUTOMU YOSHIDA 1932 — 2023

WAYNE TSUTOMU YOSHIDA

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Bonnie, daughter Debbie (Greg) and his
granddaughters Emily & Maya.

Wayne is also survived by his Brother Mike (Hisako), Brother-in laws George (Bernice), Satoshi, Stan, Sister-in-laws Shirley (Dave), Donna (Tosh), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his mother and father, Hisae & Iwataro, and by his sister Tokuko (Akira) and Brothers Satoru (Missy), and Massey. Nephews and Niece Vernon, Lance, Rhys and Naomi.

Born in Nanaimo, Dad, was just a young boy when his family was interned to Greenwood, BC during the war. He later made Kamloops his home.

Wayne worked in the automotive industry for many years as a Partsman and later became the head Ice maker at the Kamloops Curling Club where he worked for 20 years until his retirement. One of his biggest highlights is when Kamloops hosted the 1998 World Curling Championships and the 1996 Labatt Brier.

Dad was a talented craftsman having built some of his own custom fly-fishing rods and even a couple of boats. He was a true fly fisherman and never missed a chance to poke fun at his trolling buddies.

Some of Dad’s favourite places to be were out on the ocean fishing, or fly fishing at one of his favourite lakes. He also enjoyed curling, golfing and took great pride in maintaining the greenest healthiest lawn in the neighbourhood. He will be remembered for his 34 plus years of dedication to spearheading and organizing the Annual KJCA Fishing Derby. He especially loved seeing the kids catch a fish and be able to pick out a great derby prize.

SOKRATIS JOHN LOUVROS 1933 — 2023

SOKRATIS JOHN LOUVROS

February 22, 1933 – June 12, 2023

Born in Corfu, Greece, Sokratis sailed to Canada in 1960. He made his way to Jasper with his partner, Evangelia, whom he then married in 1961. While building their new life together and working for CN Railway, they welcomed their first child, Gina, in 1962, followed by son John in 1963. They picked up and moved to Kamloops to set down their roots and he then started working for BC Highways. In 1965, they welcomed their second daughter and third child, Linda. Sokratis proceeded to change career paths and became a custodian with the School District, ending that career at Arthur Stevenson before retiring. In 1981, Sokratis and Eva opened Roma’s restaurant, which they later sold in 1988 and settled into full retirement.

His legacy lives on through his daughter Gina, son John, grandchildren Ashley, Jasmine, and Andreas (Heather), and great grandchildren Christian, Bentley and Ivy.

As an avid fisherman, Sokratis frequented local lakes. On one occasion, he even managed to roll the vehicle into a lake while out with the family. Thankfully, it was shallow water so everyone was okay but it definitely showed he was a better fisherman than he was a driver! He also loved to go hunting all over BC and Alberta as well, adopting him the nickname “Great White Hunter” amongst family and friends.

Among the greatest loves of his life were his family and friends, which always came first and foremost. Spending time with each and every person as much as he could throughout the beautiful life he created.

He is already so deeply missed and his love and light will live on

in the memories he created with each and every one of us.

Viewing will take place in the Church prior to the service, beginning at 10:30am. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00am on Monday, June 19, 2023 in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 1044 8th St., Kamloops BC. Reverend Father Chad Pawlyshyn, officiating. Following the Service, Sokratis will be laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery with his beloved Evangelia.
