John Peter Schmidt of Kamloops BC passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 94 years of age. He will be lovingly remembered by his common-law wife Rose Fowlie, son Peter (Beverly Michaels) Schmidt, granddaughter Kaila Schmidt and sisters Nora Bogehegn and Inger Marup. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen Schmidt and sister Rita Eyre.

John was born in Copenhagen on September 12, 1927. He moved to Koge when young and then moved to Canada in 1952, John went to Alberta as a farm labourer, then went into working on the railroad which was where he met Mom working there. He started his own TV business in Squamish then moved to Revelstoke to work for Motorola, and the Denmark for a year. Then he began working for B.C. Tel in Woss Lake, Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Kamloops and Victoria. John has been retired for 30+ years and has taken many great trips.

Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Cousin, Friend!

On May 22, 2022, Mom passed on to Paradise on a beautiful, sunny spring day.  She will be lovingly missed by her children, Margaret (Darcy) McFarland, Lise-Anne Dore, Mark Dore & Michelle (Pete) Oyer; her friend and father of her children, Luc Dore; grandchildren, Sarah Dore, Katherine Lee, Quinn, Chase, Cori & Kaylee Oyer, and great grandchildren, Kezia and Ezra Lee Hofer.     When asked what she had wanted to be when she grew up, her response was “To be  a mom, just like my Mom!” And that she did.! She was kind, loving, considerate, generous, supportive (our biggest fan) whose infectious laugh, smile, and cheer could brighten up any space.  Those who knew Mom were truly blessed!

Mom was born on October 20, 1943 in Maymont Sask. to Florence and Dean Milman, bringing joy & laughter into their world – Their first born!  Over the next 19 years came siblings, Eileen (Tom) Petras, Diane (John) Wood, Allan (Lou), Larry (Bonnie), Louise (Terry) Burkatsky, and Elaine (Russell) Blanc.

Mom wholeheartedly loved her parents, siblings & numerous nieces and nephews, and loved sharing stories and memories of their many adventures over the years.  Mom will also be thoroughly missed by her loyal companion & pup, Ti-Belle.

Mom’s very early years were spent travelling with her parents and younger sister while her father worked for BC Tel, eventually settling in Kamloops.  Mom attended and graduated from St. Ann’s Academy where she finished her Secretarial school.  She was an avid reader and her “Love of Learning” didn’t stop there. During her adult years, she attended college for 1^st Year arts, and classes including Geography, Psychology, English and her favourite subject, French!  Mom especially enjoyed using her bi-lingual skills as a french tutor and French Teacher Education Assistant.

Completing her Community Support Worker program opened the door to many happy, fulfilling years providing care in Schools, Day-Care Centres and especially her Family Home Daycare which enabled her to provide care for her Grandchildren.

Through the years Mom enjoyed being involved and volunteering throughout the community including the Summer Games, Theatrical Productions at KFGT, Overlander and Extended Care Hospitals, and Kamloops Christian School in Literacy support.  Mom loved making a difference!

For decades, Mom’s heart and purpose has been her involvement in the Kamloops Pro-Life Society.  On this board she was able to use her hands and passion. In her final days; her life and human value was affirmed.

Mom’s many interests included dancing with the Old Time Fiddlers where she made many friends, and loved organizing social activities, and dinners with family and friends.  Outdoors is where mom felt most at home; gardening and bird watching, nature hikes, looking for, naming and sharing her knowledge of so many different species of plants  & flowers found on walks.  By far her most favourite past-time was camping at her most treasured and peaceful spot – Paul Lake Campground!  Many years have been spent and many memories have been made with family, camping and exploring. Mom, we will be thinking of you every time we explore and enjoy Paul Lake!

Family and Friends Gathering: Sunday August 28, 2022, 2pm, Paul Lake Campground, grassy day-use area.  Mom’s ashes will be released in the wind from Gibraltar Rock after a short hike up the Bluff.

I feel my soul bursting through the layers of atmosphere that is so thick; bursting up and finally reborn.
Is that you God, my Creator, who has taken me from this earth, from pain, sadness, good times, as well as my family’s love, of faithful friends?
Leave them with feelings of happiness and love, to keep them strong.
Such a great love surrounds my heart to bursting,
floating in a world of bliss.
Seeing loved family members long gone, friends I have missed; welcoming me.
I will miss my family I’ve left behind.
Maybe I could visit them in their dreams,
whisper encouragement in their ears and hearts, in their times of need.
Thank you for the love you give.

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Clayton Brian Kopeck, at the age of 28 years old, on Friday, November 19, 2021. Our beloved son, brother, family member and friend to many will be greatly missed.

Clayton was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on November 25, 1992.

Those who knew Clayton lost a shining light in their lives. He will be missed everyday by his mother Sheila, father Michael, brothers Michael, Jayden, Dawson, sister Rachel, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many great friends. We know Clayton is
now with his sister Joelle and his grandmother Joan in Heaven.

Although at only 28 years old at the time of his passing, Clayton effected many people in his lifetime. He was a friend and a mentor to many.

Clayton worked as a professional landscaper and his love for life
showed in the living masterpieces he created in his short career.

Clayton passed in Mission, BC and remains with his
loving mother in Kamloops, BC.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Betty Ann Heron announce her passing on Saturday June 11, 2022 at the age of 88.

Betty is survived by:  her sister Irene, 3 children Sandy, Doug (Sandy) and Arlana (Jaime), grandchildren Danny (Tamara) Nicole, Amanda (Carlo) and Christa (Dave). She was great-grandma: to Danny’s children Ryan, Emily and Zach, Nicole’s children Tyler and Bentley. To Christa’s children Paisleigh, Teaghan and Oaklan – she was GG.

She is predeceased by: parents Pearl and Les Gardiner, brother Bill and sister Frances, husband Don,
son-in-law Barry and great granddaughter Luciella.

Betty Ann was born at Royal Inland hospital Aug 17, 1933 to Les and Pearl Gardiner. She grew up on the family farm with brother Bill and sisters Frances and Irene. She later moved to town and boarded with George and Dorothy Bowers in order to complete her education. She attended the old Kamloops High School and was a part of the last graduating class of 1952.

After graduating she started her career with the BC forest service. Soon after she met our father Don (Donald Raymond Heron) of Cherry Creek. They were married June 27^th, 1953. Sandy was born in 1958, Doug soon followed and lastly Arlana. It is during these years that Mom stayed home to raise us.

As we got older mom returned to work, starting at Sears. This is where she met Raffelina Johnson who has remained a trusted and true friend. Mom enjoyed her time at Sears, working with the public and became a department manager. After leaving Sears she started to work at BC Tel. It was here she met many special friends: Erna, Pearl, Peggy, Guido and John (to name a few). She then retired from Telus as it is now called in 1994.

Living in the same neighborhood for over 60 years, her passion for gardening was evident in her beautiful garden and flower beds. The neighborhood has changed over 60 years but still present and always keeping a watchful eye were the Russell’s and the Pape’s.

Moms last years were spent gardening, baking, driving the cancer bus to Kelowna and volunteering at People in Motion (doing Income tax). She had many luncheon groups: Sears, Telus and the old neighborhood group. There was always shopping. The grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought her happiness and she spent as much time as she could with them.

A graveside service to which all are welcome will be held Friday
June 24^th at 11:00 in the Hillside Cemetery. A tea to follow at
Kamloops Funeral Home.

Joseph William Harry Silver passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022, at the age of 85 in Kamloops, BC after a brief illness.

Joe was born in Fort William, Ontario, where he met the love of his life, Lorna, and they married in 1957. They had five children, Joe Jr. (late Karen), Terri (Dan), Tracy (Al), Renee (Ian) and Debbie (late Larry).  They were blessed with 13 grandchildren, Alayne, Kristi, Nicole, Andy, Talaine, Blay, Tyler, Meagan, Kasha, Micah, Trent, Tejadah and Tasia, and 13 great-grandchildren, Ayden, Gavin, Gabby, Daniel, Acacia, Bryden, Payton, Cassie, MacKenzie, Callen, Annabelle, Jacob and Evelyn. Joe is also survived by two brothers, Jim (Cheryl)
and Mike (Susan), and brother-in-law Doug (late Sandy), and
pre-deceased by siblings Diana (late John) and Richard (Maryanne).

Joe worked for many years as a pipefitter in Thunder Bay,
Prince George, Kamloops, Fort McMurray and Houston, then
retired to Kamloops at age 60.

Joe loved to play golf and was a member of The Dunes Golf Club for
many years. He also enjoyed cross-country skiing, black powder
shooting, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, cards and board games.
He and Lorna were Juniper Sam RV Club members for several years.

All Joe ever really wanted in life was to have a family. He was a
wonderful provider who cherished his whole family who surrounded
him in his final days.

Joe will be honoured by his family in a quiet celebration of life,
with arrangements being made through Kamloops Funeral Home.
