SAMUEL ALEXANDER SHANNON 1936 — 2022

SAMUEL ALEXANDER SHANNON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Samuel Alexander Shannon at the age of 85 on March 13th, 2022 in Kamloops.

Sam Was born in Hamilton Ontario on November 18 1936, the Fourth of Five children to  John and Katherine Shannon. Sam grew up in a busy house in a busy neighborhood. He would throughout his life love to remember his youth and tell stories of his adventures on Balsom Avenue. Sam attended Delta High school in Hamilton. He loved to reflect on his times there especially playing football, as he liked to say it “On both sides of the ball”

Following high school Sam joined the Hamilton city fire department, for a short time before going on to do the job he loved to do is whole life, selling cars, which he would do for more than forty years.

Sam was a fun loving and fun seeking person who was always a joy to be around if you were a friend. Sam was always looking for new fun things to do and way to make life even more enjoyable.  At around the age of forty Sam took up golf as a hobby sport and would make it his passion for the rest of his life. Sam was almost a never miss on Men’s nights, loved tournament play and all the side games he could manage. Sam could be counted on to make Sunday and holiday dinners an event, showing off his cooking skills that he had learned while on the Hamilton city fire department, and passing on his culinary skills to his sons.

Sam is predeceased by his Parents John and Katherine. His two older brothers Jack and George as well as his oldest sister Isabelle.  Sam is survived by his wife for fifty four years Alice, younger sister Elizabeth, three daughters Leslie, Shelly and Cathy-Jo as well as his three sons Mark  Michael and Peter.

We take heart in knowing that Sam is now hitting every fairway and making every put.

No funeral will be held at Sam’s wishes. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Canadian SPCA in Sam’s memory

Rest in Peace Sam, our Father Brother, Friend and Husband.
