Ida passed away peacefully, as the angels called softly, in Kamloops Hospice on January 3rd at the age of 88. Ida is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Elaine (Al) McLeod; her grandchildren Shelly (Noel) Lempriere and Alicia (David) Marino; her great-grandchildren Nico Marino and Arianna Lempriere; and her sister Frieda (Alex) Lubin and family. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2005, her son Larry in 1968, her father Emil in 1949, her mother Auguste in 1989, and brother Reno in 1956. Ida was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1929 at the age of 4.
Her family resided in Forestburg, Alberta then found their way to Kamloops. She began working at a young age to help support her family which eventually led to her job at RIH where she met her husband Bill. On February 24th, 1945 they were wed and spent the next 60 years together. Ida enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, baking, gardening, and took great pride in the care of her home. Everyone always looked forward to her famous pies and appreciated her beautiful array of violets. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the staff and volunteers on 5N and at Kamloops Hospice for providing Ida with such compassionate care over her last few days. We would also like to thank family and friends for their support and thoughtfulness during our time of grief. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 9th at 1:00 at Kamloops Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Kamloops Hospice Association – 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, BC V2E 2S9 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation – Suite 201-635 Victoria St, Kamloops, BC V2C 2B3.
