It is with heavy hearts that the Ramsey and Mayes families announce the devastating passing of our son, brother, nephew, cousin and beloved grandson, Kaeden Patrick Mayes.
Born March 7th 2008, in Penticton BC, Kaeden was an angelic blessing that brought happiness, laughter and a gentle presence to our family from the moment he arrived.
May we cherish the fond memories of innocent childhood times with Rylee, Von and Ace and embrace the memories of scooter trips, mobbin’ with the boys, and endless hours spent at his desk with artwork and building materials. Kaeden will be dearly missed every day by his little brother Leland, and all of the neighborhood kids he impacted with his caring, patient and fun demeanor.
Kaeden was a loyal friend, a talented artist and a skilled athlete – whether he was achieving first place ribbons at track meets or outrunning the feds, he always maintained a friendly, sportmanlike attitude. Let us remember Kaeden at his best – building rope swings, finishing his homework assignments, shooting hoops, and editing adventure videos.
The fun times with Ronald, Kurran and Reggie will always bring smiles to our faces and joy to our hearts. We will miss your pranks, jokes and line crossing antics, and will hold onto your sense of humor and easy going nature. We are proud of you for all of your accomplishments and personal achievements, even the ones we did not agree with. Every game that was played at the kitchen table, every fridge full of food that was consumed on sleepover nights, every late night mantracker reenactment episode, every Lego creation, will be eternally embedded in our minds and hearts.
Thank you to Kaeden’s school teachers that were always so encouraging and went out of their way to motivate and connect. Thank you to Grandma Ba and Grandpa Cheswick for always being around. Thank you to Aunty Mimi, Momma Jillian, and lil bro Jacob for always being there, to the best girlfriend Payton M, and to the to the Abby PD for their continuous support and dedication to youth and families. Thank you to Jaimie at BGC for always checking in and going out of your way for us, Tatiana Sean for your dedication and skills and to his long time buddy and oncall mentor, Uncle Andrew.
We invite everyone to join us for a celebration of life on Friday, August 15th at 2:00pm at the Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive. Please come share a story and peacefully connect with Kaeden’s family and friends. For those who cannot attend in person, you may join online: https://www.ipcamlive.com/5f98c1fdc1e47 PIN: 1993
Kaeden was a believer in random acts of kindness and helping others. We encourage everyone to give back to their community and the world, by going out of your way to help someone that could use a hand, in whatever way you are able. Do not judge, do not assume, do not expect anything in return, just selflessly love someone that may need it.
Until we meet again my son, be free and know that you are loved forever.
Mom
