It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine “Kathie” Lynne Befurt. She passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
She was predeceased by her father, Lawrence Gerald Molish; her mother, Shirley Gwen Mueller; her father-in-law, Jacob Befurt; her mother-in-law, Vera Lillian Befurt; and her nephew, Jacob Russell Befurt. Also predeceased were her loving pets: Honey, Kayla, and Holly.
She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Trevor Befurt; children, Miranda Befurt-Flack (Jordan) and Roger Befurt (Laura); grandchildren, Mahleah, Jacob-Trevor, and Wyatt; siblings, Shelley, Jeff, and Chris; and her loving pets Nico, Kira, Lacey, and Kayley — as well as many other family and friends.
Kathie was born May 31, 1960, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She moved to BC in 1969 and eventually settled in Kamloops in 1974, where she met the love of her life, Trevor, on September 5th, 1976, at a gas station in Brocklehurst. She and Trevor married on August 29th, 1981, and later had their daughter Miranda in April of ’85, and son Roger in March of ’88.
She graduated from Norkam in 1978. She then worked in the X-ray department at the Irving Clinic and later at Royal Inland Hospital for 25 years.
As a family, they loved going on trips, spending many summers camping at Blind Bay on the Shuswap, as well as making local trips to Kelowna and Vancouver. They also travelled to Winnipeg to visit family, and often vacationed in Hawaii and Disneyland.
The family would like to thank the nurses of 6 North and all the staff of the Kidney Clinic at Royal Inland Hospital for the wonderful compassion, kindness, and care they showed to Mom.
Condolences and flowers may be sent to the family through Kamloops Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at 12:00 p.m. at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive. Following the service, a burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, 750 Notre Dame Drive. Please don’t wear all black, as per Kathie’s wishes. Reception to follow.

Dear Trevor, Miranda, Roger and families,
Please know how sorry I am that you have lost your dear wife, mother and grandmother.
I met Kathie when I had the pleasure of teaching both Miranda and Roger. She and Trevor were wonderful, supportive parents. Kathie was always generous with her time and nurturing of all the children. She never missed a field trip! I also experienced personally her inclusivity and lovely hospitality.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences to you all.
