Maria Guilherme, born June 25, 1941, in Pedrome, Portugal, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Maria was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Guilherme, and her grandson, Corey. She leaves behind her daughters, Ana (James) Keele and Irene (Steve) Sheehy, who will miss her deeply, along with her beloved grandchildren Alyssa, Alex, Kyle, and Ryan, her great-grandchildren Greyson and Sawyer, her brother Faustino and many nieces and nephews.
In 1968, Maria made the brave move from Portugal to Canada with her husband and their two young children, building a new life. Through hard work and perseverance, they created a home filled with love, strong values, and lasting traditions that will continue through her family.
She loved her daily walks, taking time to enjoy the fresh air and familiar surroundings. Her yearly trips back to Portugal meant so much to her—not only keeping her connected to her roots but also giving her the chance to spend time with her family, something she truly cherished. Just last year she was able to fulfill her lifelong dream of traveling to Italy, and was able to see the Pope, a reflection of how important her faith was to her.
Her Catholic faith was a steady and guiding presence throughout her life. It shaped the way she lived—with kindness, humility, and quiet strength. She found comfort in prayer and carried her faith with her every day, especially in both joyful and difficult times. It was something she shared gently, through her actions, her values, and the love she gave to those around her.
She took great pride in her heritage and shared it in the way she lived—through her cooking, her generosity, and the way she brought people together. Her home was always open, warm, and welcoming.
Maria will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and the way she cared so deeply for the people in her life. She had a special way of listening and making others feel comforted, and her love will stay with her family always.
Descanse em paz mãe. Estará para sempre em nossos corações.
