With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mavis “Jackie” Bott (née Mitchell) born September 1934, died in Kamloops on 18 Jan 2026 at the age of 91.
Jackie was born and spent her early childhood on the family farm near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta where she developed her keen love of Nature. Riding horses and picking berries were a favourite pastime. After the farm was sold, the family moved to Edmonton where she completed high school. A member of the school archery club, she was a crack shot. After graduation she worked in the drafting department of Alberta Government Telephones.
Jackie married Stan Bott in 1957 and left work to raise a family in Westlock, Alberta before moving to Kamloops in 1972. Jackie and Stan separated in 1996.
Jackie was active in the Kinette Club in Westlock and in her local United Churches. She had many interests and worked these into various jobs and volunteer positions. These included flower arrangement, art, oil painting, cake decorating, and helping to run the local soup kitchen. She was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed her independence.
Jackie is survived by her son Ken Bott (Susan Rvachew and Vivian), daughter Leaticia Mytchell, sister Audrey Mitchell (chic) and brother Dennis Mitchell as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
