Vinko Bozanich 1938 — 2017

Vinko Bozanich

Vinko Bozanich passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 79 years of age. He is survived by his loving-family; wife Edith, children Kathy, Glen, Lana , his brother Dragan (Bozena) and their daughters who will miss him greatly but are happy for all his love and guidance. Vinko was born in Komiza, Croatia. He came to Canada on October 17, 1956 and arrived in Halifax Canada at Pier 21 on April 29, 1957. He was the best and happiest at being a husband, father and friend. His brother, Dragan and his family followed a few years later. Dragan arrived September 21/77 and his wife Bozena, daughters Jolana and little Kathy following later.

Vinko worked at Weyerhaeuser for over 30 years. The picture in the newspaper shows Vinko grabbing the first bale coming off the conveyor belt. He and Edith drove across the country when he retired at 60. They loaded up the trailer and off they went for 3 months! Vinko loved hunting, fishing, his garden, working on cars and playing cards regularly while having coffee with “the boys” after he retired. He was phenomenal with remembering dates and figures. He could tell you exactly what date and year he would catch a moose/deer. Vinko was always willing to help others and fix your car. He really knew his stuff and had enough tools to put your garage mechanic to shame!Read More & Leave Condolences »

Orval H Olafson 1931 — 2017

Orval H Olafson

On October 19, 2017 I lost my best friend and husband of 62 years, Orval H Olafson at the age of 86. He was always well respected in business and his personal life for his honesty and consideration of others needs. Orv enjoyed his life in spite of the challenges he faced. He hunted, fished in the winter and summer, recreationally and commercially and he taught me how. We 4-wheeled, water skied, swam, danced, travelled all over Canada, even in the north and much of the US. He was part of the music world with me.

Richard McLean 1950 — 2017

Richard McLean

With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of Richard McLean, age 67, on October 18, 2017. Richard was born October 12, 1950, in Edinburgh, Scotland to John and Jesse McLean. The family moved to Canada when Richard was young, eventually settling in Kamloops, BC. Richard worked for over 30 years with Barton Black and Robertson Insurance/Interior Savings Insurance Services where he met his wife Carol and together they raised 2 children. He would go on to retire and enjoy his true passions of garage sales and gardening. It was a sure bet that on any given day you could find Richard either out in his garden wearing over sized gum boots, a hat and a smile or driving his 1966 “Robins Egg Blue” GMC truck. Richard had a wonderful sense of humour, loved watching his favorite sports teams, win or lose, he was a loyal fan. Some of his favorite times were when he packed up his family and went out to Knouff Lake for a weekend of fun.
