George Michael Sofko 1935 — 2015

George Michael Sofko

 

 

July 9, 1935 – November 20,2015

Michael passed away following a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born in Fernie, BC and with his family they moved to Vancouver in 1953. He worked
with his father on the construction of the Granville St. bridge, and made umbrellas at
Vancouver Umbrella Factory before attending Vancouver Vocational School to complete
his journeyman machinist certificate in 1959.

In 1966 he received his B.Ed (Secondary) from UBC. His greatest joy was seeing the
success of his students as they progressed through their lives and careers.

As a resident of River shore Estates and Golf Links, Michael took on the job of Volunteer
Fire Chief for twelve years

Douglas James Ferguson 1952 — 2015

Douglas James Ferguson

With broken hearts we announce that Doug passed away peacefully at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home on November 21, 2015 from Leukemia.

Doug was born on September 18, 1952 in Murreyville BC , moving to Raleigh and then into Kamloops as a young boy.

Doug is survived by his wife Bev Kuzmiuk, stepson Jordan , parents Bill and Charmian Ferguson, siblings Brian , Kathy, Glenn , Jeff ( Janet Blair), nieces Sarah, Emily, Jennifer, Lindsay, Thea and nephews Will and Chase. Brother in law Doug Wood ( Shelley) and their children Nic and Emmarie .

Doug was predeceased by his son Jim and nephews Chris and Brandon.

Doug worked for SD #73 as a bus driver, janitor, and on grounds as an equipment operator, retiring in 2012 after 37 years. Doug loved the outdoors and some of his happiest days were spent at our place at Paul Lake .

We will miss the mischievous boy, his smile, kind heart and his gift for story telling.

Joshua Ruben Rousselle 1995 — 2015

Joshua Ruben Rousselle

Ruben LIVED his life with determination and decisive zest right to his last breath.  Having CF (cystic fibrosis) presented a lot of challenges, but they were really no match for Ruben when it came to enjoying and sharing his effervescent smile, laughter, and good things life has to offer.  Ruben lived, breathed and shared love and happiness with everyone he met.

Ruben adored and was fervently adored by those who will miss him most, his mom Katherina (Kate, Kay, Kat), sisters Renée (Alex), and Brooke, as well as Papa and MamaJill (Al & Jill Baker). Ruben joins his other sister, Angèle (predeceased).  Family first was his motto and he was always there for his family and anyone else who needed him. Read More & Leave Condolences »

George Hans Juergensen 1935 — 2015

George Hans Juergensen

George was born in Suederland, Germany on December 14, 1935.  He was raised in Flensburg. He came to Canada in 1954 to Saint John, New Brunswick.  In 1957, George went to Ocean Falls, B.C. and began working at Crown Zellerbach paper mill.  He went on vacation to Mazatlan, Mexico and met the love of his life, Socorro, who he married in May 1960.  Shortly after, he became a father to his two children.  In 1970, George moved his family to Kitimat, B.C. where he worked at Eurocan for 27 years.  George had many friends in Kitimat, spending lots of time entertaining.  After 38 years in Kitimat, he followed his daughter to Kamloops, B.C. in 2008.  Shortly after, his son also moved and the family was reunited.  George spent the last years of his life surrounded by his loving family.

 

George, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa will be greatly missed each day by his family and many friends.

 

A Memorial Service will be held in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel(285-Fortune Drive) on November 14, 2015 at 12 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Kamloops Hospice Association, 72- Whiteshield Cres. South, Kamloops BC V2E 2S9

George Richard Angus 1931 — 2015

George Richard Angus

George passed away on October 8, 2015 at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 62 years; children; Bruce (Lori) Angus of Kamloops, Beverly (Trevor) Ward of Langley. Grandchildren; Marissa (Matt) Angus, Kyle (Doreeal) Angus, Madison and Chantelle Ward. Great grandchildren; Leah Angus. Predeceased by parents George and Emily and forever friends Ellen  (1997) and Martin Huber (2011). George passed away peacefully from lung cancer at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home. George was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on September 11, 1931. In 1932  his parents decided to move to B.C., his dad made his vehicle (Gray dork) into a truck to carry their belongings, however the truck broke down at Rock Creek, B.C. They finally made it to  Aldergrove in 1934, where his mother’s parents lived at the time. The next move in 1934 was to Princeton, (five-mile area) where his dad managed a Fox farm, this being their first real home. George went to school and was involved in sports. He liked  ski jumping, hockey, golf and playing ball. He was a well known pitcher in Kamloops and supported hockey since 1952. George was a season ticket holder from the start, George and Ruth were married in 1952.Bruce and Beverly were raised at Tranquille taking the bus to school and hanging out with their friends.  Fishing, hunting, camping, and playing cards were all enjoyed with many friends. His accordion is silent, but many enjoyed his musical talent and he loved playing, especially if it encouraged dancing.Thank you for the cards,flowers and help from family and friends during his illness.You will not be forgotten.
