GLEN RUSSELL MANTIE

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to announce the unexpected passing of Glen Mantie. Glen passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital.  He was born October 25, 1961 at the Surrey Hospital.

Glen went to South Kamloops Secondary School and studied at Thompson Rivers University.

A potter for almost 20 years, Glen started out at the Kamloops Arts & Craft Club, then very quickly went on to join the Thompson Valley Potters Guild. At one point he was president of the TVPG. He was loved and respected by all of his fellow potters. As a self-employed Potter of Grimwurks Pottery, Glen was a friendly face at many farmers markets and sales.

Glen was a gentleman, a scholar, a kind generous soul, and an amazing artist.  He will sadly be missed, but not forgotten.

On October 5, 2023 Jenna Shalene Shirley Whitmore, age 33, passed peacefully and suddenly in her hometown of Kamloops, BC.  During her visit on earth, she enjoyed listening to music (Shania Twain was her favorite), watching Blazer hockey games, going to concerts, and Music in the Park.

She loved being held close by her parents and grandparents.  She was loved by all who met her and will be greatly missed.  True to her fighting spirit, she gave us 30 more years with her than the doctors expected.

Her Uncles and Aunts, Ed (Lena), Ted (Diane) and Gloria (Dale) and her honorary Uncle Michael Enos.  Her cousins, who were there as youngsters to every birthday, Christmas, Easter Egg hunt held at the old Whitmore homestead on Pine Street, she was a shiny star! We all held her close to our hearts since the day she entered this world.

LORNA OTSIG 1934 — 2023

LORNA OTSIG

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorna Otsig, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who left us on September
26, 2023.

Lorna was pre-deceased by her loving husband, John, and was a cherished half-century resident of Kamloops, British Columbia.

Lorna is survived by her three devoted children: Neil (Karen), Arlene (Rocky), and Les, who will always hold her memory close to their hearts. She was a loving grandmother to Blayne (Autumn), Lee, Julia (Mick), Brittany, Liberty, and Jack. Lorna’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Penelope, Anouk, and Lara, who will forever be inspired by her love and warmth.

Lorna was not just a mother and grandmother; she was a talented seamstress whose creations brought joy to many. Her cooking skills were legendary, and everyone eagerly anticipated her delicious turkey dinners and sauerkraut with spareribs. Her culinary talents were a testament to the love she poured into every meal she prepared.

Lorna had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travel with family and friends. She cherished the moments spent with her very special friends, Nada and her wonderful neighbour Judy. Their companionship brought immeasurable happiness to her life, and their memories will continue to bring comfort to those who knew her.

As we say goodbye to Lorna, we take solace in the belief that one day, we will be reunited. Her kindness, love, and cherished memories will forever remain in our hearts. May she find eternal peace on her new journey, and may her legacy of love and warmth continue to inspire us all.

Special thanks to Dr. De Villiers, Meagan, all of the nursing and staff on 6 North at RIH, and the wonderful team at the Kamloops Hospice Association, your compassion, empathy, care and attention was amazing and truly appreciated.

Safe travels, dear Lorna; we will meet again.
