I need to share some very sad news. The Man, the Myth, the Legend…Al Schrader, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, cracking jokes until the end.
Allan is survived by his loving wife Donna, his sons Lawrence and Darren (Margaret), grandchildren Luke, Emily, Jacob, Lili and Megan, and goddaughter Isabella.
So many, many people will miss playing crib with him, talking football, his big hugs, and the way he could light up a room.
A viewing will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, October 11th at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive. Big Al’s Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 12th.
Flowers gratefully accepted or you may make a donation to a charity of your choice. The Service will also be available online at https://ipcamlive.com/5f98c1fdc1e47

I am so sorry to hear the sad news of Al’s passing…there is truly no one in the world like him! My condolances to the family at this time. Regards…Pat
My heartfelt condolences to Al’s family. As a neighbour, we were grateful for his friendly waves, smiles and chit chat. He showed us how to remain cheerful during his own personal illness. He will be missed and remembered. … Cogi and Don Smith
Allan and I went to high school together. Our mothers worked for Hilda Carlson together. My aunt was a longtime friend of Allan’s aunt. I have many memories of the Schrader family and I am sorry to hear of Allan’s passing. My sincere sympathy and condolences to his family.

Our thoughts and prayers for the family to have strength to deal with these hard times! Sending love and hugs to all the family! RIP cuz! Sonny and Vivian
There was only one Al… thank heavens! There was no one like him, larger than life, candy in his pocket and that deep voice booming in laughter. A very kind and generous man who told the best off-colour jokes, and was the king of sarcasm! Even though he would beg to differ…a “terrible” cribbage player lol! Larry and I have so many great memories with him and Donna over our unfortunately, short 25 year friendship. Even though 3,000 miles separated us, when we were together it was the best kind of mayhem and fun! To the Schrader Family, our hearts go out to you, cherish those sometimes crazy, but wonderful memories of your Dad.
All Our Love, Larry and Babs (Big Ass Bitch) Susan xo

I was so very saddened to learn of both Al and Donna’s passing. I will miss them both dearly. I feel very fortunate for the time I got to spend with them, especially over the past few years. I’ll miss Al’s critique of my crib game and Donna’s sassing him for it. And I’ll especially miss both of their big heartfelt hugs. May they both rest in peace together forever. Love always, Mandy
