Twyla Michelle Norstrom (age 41) was born in Kamloops on July 1, 1980 where she lived until leaving us on December 31, 2021.
She is survived by her Father and Mother (Hugh & Hazel Norstrom) Brother (Orlund, children Joy, Olivia and Jacob), Brother and Wife (Virden & Kerry, children Ava and Lilly).
(Twyla was predeceased by her sister-in-law Jennifer)
Twyla attended Thompson Valley Christian School until it amalgamated with Kamloops Christian School, where she graduated.
Music, which Twyla was good at, was a passion of hers. When she was 8 years old she began piano lessons, completing grade 9 and part of grade 10 piano. For a number of years Twyla taught piano and was the lead pianist for church. A great enjoyment for her was leading worship with her brother Virden.
Twyla taught piano and worked at Great Canadian Superstore after graduation. Later she completed a hairdressing course and worked as a hairdresser, slowly fading out the piano teaching. After hair styling for 10 years, she was ready for a change and went to work as a shift supervisor at Starbucks until her passing.
Generally, just “hanging out” with friends, going to the beach, road trips, hosting luncheons for coworkers or friends, and arranging cousin reunions were some of the things Twyla enjoyed doing. Her greatest joy in recent years has been her nieces and nephew and putting on parties for them (those were hilarious and fun times!!). She had a real gift for telling stories and seeing the humor in many situations which she often shared. One of the cousins remarked after her passing that “cousin reunions won’t be the same without Twyla”
Yes, life won’t be the same without you Twyla – but there are so many good memories for which we are thankful!
