It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Gilroy on January 31, 2026, at Gemstone Care Centre where she was surrounded by the love of her family and close friends.
Carol was born in Vancouver, BC and was only 5 years old when the family made the move to Fauquier to operate the Needles garage. Carol attended Fauquier Elementary and later Needles Secondary. After graduation, Carol made her way back to Vancouver where she attended Vancouver Vocational School and then started working for an importing company. It was shortly thereafter that Carol met Wayne on a blind date. They were married in 1967 and eventually settled in Kamloops where they raised their children Richard and Michelle.
Carol was a devoted mom, a loving grandma and a genuine, loyal friend to many. She enjoyed gardening, liked to golf with her friends and spend time with her grandchildren. Many happy memories were made on our annual camping trip to Herald Park. She loved the water and spent countless hours floating around in the lake. It was her happy place.
Predeceased by her husband Wayne in December 2019, Carol is survived by her son Richard (Kristy), daughter Michelle (Tom), grandchildren Logan (Kennedy), Jackson (Leah), Carter, Paige and McKenna, and great grandson Blake. She also leaves to mourn her brother Gordon, sister Lois (John), nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends who she considered family.
Her home was always open with family and friends surrounding her table and filling the rooms with laughter. She had a gift of making everyone feel welcome and the love she shared so freely will continue to bring us together.
Special thanks to Dr. Takahashi, Dr. Howie, the staff at Gemstone Care Centre and her amazing nurse Kelly who made sure mom and our whole family were taken care of in her final days.
We will miss you mom. You will be in our hearts forever.
If desired, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of BC in lieu of flowers.
A Celebration of Life will be held for both Carol and Wayne at 11:30am on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at The Dunes Golf Course. 652 Dunes Drive, Kamloops, BC.
