DEBBIE ANN WOODD 1960 — 2026

DEBBIE ANN WOODD

Debbie Ann Woodd was born November 15, 1960, in New Westminster, BC to Elizabeth and Alfred Woodd.  She was the youngest of our mother’s 9 children. She was our little sister.

Over the past 16 years she battled leukemia (a life changing disease) with its many side effects.  She was a warrior never giving in, but her struggles came to an end when she passed away in her sleep on February 28, 2026. This was the end she had hoped for.

At the age of 10 she moved with the family to Kamloops where she lived, worked,, and played for the rest of her days.

In school she was active in field sports (what else could she do with those long legs?).  She enjoyed camping, hiking,, and biking but downhill skiing was her recreation of choice. She was exceptionally good at it and volunteered with the ski rescue patrol team over several seasons.

She made her living as a hair stylist and after buying her little bungalow home, opened and operated her own shop on the upper level for close to 15 years.

She took mega pride in her home along with the backyard garden which she built and planted with her own hands.    It became a sanctuary for relaxing and recharging where one could sit in the summer amongst the lush green of ferns and hosta with the fragrance of lilies in the air.

She is survived by her son Curtis Parsons and 7 remaining siblings with a multitude of family including great-great nieces & nephews spread throughout BC,  Alberta & Ontario.

Our sister suffered more than most twice her age, and we are glad she is finally at peace. Rest now Debbie your battle is done; relax in your garden amongst the flowers and sunshine.

“A sister is both your mirror and your opposite, losing her feels like you lose a piece of yourself.”

To honour her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony and there will be no funeral service.   A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
