Henry Jacob Walde 1933 — 2020

Henry Jacob Walde

Henry left us to be with his Lord and Saviour a few weeks after being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 87. He passed away peacefully with the love of his life by his side.

Henry was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan on March 25, 1933. At the age of 9, the family moved to Chilliwack. They lived on a dairy farm but to help make ends meet, he would travel to Kamloops to work at various jobs. While in Kamloops, he met Elsie, who would later on become his wife. They were married in 1958.

Henry was the most gentle, kind, soft-spoken, and loving example of Jesus to many. He will be remembered for his incredible generosity and willingness to lend a hand. His deep faith in the Lord carried him through his entire life.

Henry was an avid gardener who was happiest when tending his flowers or giving away garden produce. He enjoyed woodworking, playing games and spending time with his family. He will be remembered fondly by his loving wife Elsie; children Bonita (Gord) Wiens and Darrel Walde; grandchildren Karey Wiens, Janice (Terry) Bowdler, Aidan and Tristan Walde; and great-grandchildren Kira, Joshua and Eden Bowdler.

The Celebration of Life was held on September 29 with close family and friends.

If you would like to make a donation on his behalf, please consider the Royal Inland Hospital.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had many great conversations with him when my Dad had his stroke.

Henry was such a wonderful man, and very full of life, always smiling lighting up a room.
Please remember that he will always be with you, all you need to do is close your eyes and remember all the great times.

I am so very sorry for your loss, folks. To Elsie, Bonita and Daryl I can only say…we will meet him again! Superlatives escape me,
and the English language is such an inadequate vehicle to express my personal sense of loss. Henry was one in a million to be sure. His steadfast love for Christ and for his family radiated freely. My admiration for him is almost inexpressable. We met in spring of 1955 when he came to Kamloops to manage the Royal City Farms tomato crop. We became instant friends and I knew it would be a lifetime friendship. Elsie, Henry and I spent time together even before they were an item ! They were the perfect couple…in every way and established the example of a Christ centred home, led by a true man of God. We sorrow not as they that have no hope. He is with his Lord, and the Lord is with you….so Henry is not far away ! God bless and comfort you all.
