DIANE ADA SANFORD (FRASER) 1951 — 2022

DIANE ADA SANFORD (FRASER)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we recently lost our beloved Diane after a long battle with cancer.  She is survived by her husband Donald Sanford, her stepdaughter Lindsay Lartz, her three brothers Rob (and Fran) Fraser, David (and Tricia) Fraser, Ron Fraser, niece and nephew Shawna Fraser Gip and Scott, nephews Terry and Quin, a sister-in-law Helen (and Clarence), and two dogs Brady (Shih Tzu), and Shiloh (Chihuahua-Pomeranian).

She was born in Penticton, BC February 4, 1951, living there for several years until moving to Golden, BC where she graduated from high school. She received Professional Certification from University of Victoria 1986, BS from Open University in Vancouver BC 1990, and a Master of Arts in Computers in Education from Gonzaga University 1999.  She began her teaching career in Nelson, BC before teaching and doing middle school counselling in the Castlegar and Trail BC areas. She loved teaching and was very good at it.  She was well liked and respected by her students
and principals. She retired in 2010.

She enjoyed golf the most of all her sports and was quite successful at a tournament level. Under the name McAfee, she won the Castlegar Savings Credit Union Ladies’ Golf Tournaments in 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001 (unable to play 1995, 1999), and was runner-up 4 times.  She was Castlegar Club Champion in 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001.
She took up the sport while in university and continued golfing until
2020.  She also enjoyed curling and took up snowboarding at the age of
52. She played a lot of basketball while in university, and coached boys’ and girls’ volleyball, badminton, golf, and girls’ field hockey during her teaching career.

She loved animals, especially her dogs.  Her love of animals seemed to have started early.  Her father was a fish and wildlife officer and would sometimes bring home orphaned fawns and other animals, which she loved to help care for.

She strongly believed in fairness and was always concerned about the welfare of others. She will be greatly missed. No services held at her request.  May the Lord shine His countenance upon you and give you peace.

No more bad days.

ROBERT WINSTON GRAZIER 1940 — 2022

ROBERT WINSTON GRAZIER

November 5, 1940 – June 18, 2022

It is with sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Winston Grazier announce his passing at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC on June 18, 2022 at the age of 81. Bob leaves behind his children, Kevin Grazier (Louise) and Geordy Cuthbert (Doug), and his four grandchildren, Brandon Miki, Amiko Grazier, Max and Hannah Cuthbert. He will also be missed by his special friend, Mary Dempster.

Dad was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, but lived the majority of his life in Kamloops. He had a successful career as a conductor, working for the CPR. Dad loved the trains and the people he worked with, who called him “Ace.” Until he was unable, Dad enjoyed bike trips on his Harley throughout Western Canada and the USA. In his later years, Dad seemed to be most content when he was puttering in his garden, tending his wildflowers and feeding the birds. He loved to watch storms move in from the north and always had an interest in history, geography, and all things British.

We would like to thank neighbours who kept an eye on Dad these past years, and especially Mary, who tended to so many of his needs and treated him with kindness and compassion.

In accordance with Dad’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.  Messages of condolences may be sent to dgkids@telus.net

LARRY DENNIS FORDE 1956 — 2021

LARRY DENNIS FORDE

Larry was born and raised in Port Coquitlam, B.C. He worked numerous jobs all around BC, until settling down in Kamloops, where he got married to Karen, and had his first son Jake. Soon after they moved to Prince George where they co-owned the Prince George buy and sell, and settled into their new home on Ness Lake. Before long they welcomed their second son, Tyler.

Years later, Larry moved back to Kamloops and married for a second time to Barb, where he drove trucks until starting his employment at Molycop. As the hands of time spun, he found himself once again in his home town of Poco, until meeting Susan and her daughter Anjali, where they moved to Fort St John and settled in for a life in the north. After 15 years he moved back to his final resting place, in Kamloops.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Ruby Forde, and his step son Aarion Howden.

He leaves behind his brothers John (Joanne), Dave (Gayle), son’s Jake and Tyler, and grandson Garrett. He also leaves behind his blended family: step daughter Monique, granddaughters Alaina and Natasha, grandsons Cameron, Carson, Tyler, and Jace, as well as 3 great-grandkids Lyla, Sylvia and Evelyn, his dog Bart, and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Larry was a man with many passions and talents. From riding motorcycles, mechanics, horses, music, writing, woodwork, lacrosse, painting, art, water skiing, and creating his own tools and gadgets. There was nothing he couldn’t fi x, and his hands were proof of it.

A man who was unapologetically himself, with a pure and authentic soul. His cremation was held on August 20, 2021, but his sons will follow his wishes, and spread his ashes in the desired location. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at Jake’s residence of 1059 Laroque Street. All friends and family are welcome.
